Red Queen Series

So I just finished reading the third book Kings Cage and not taking about that one yet, I actually found the first two interesting. I guess I liked the idea of an upper class and lower class society where the upper class wasn't just about wealth but abilities and then you have the new bloods. It wasn't written as good as it could've been but it's a young adult book and the author isn't crazily well known so I wasn't assuming a Stephen King novel. The third book however I didn't like. I have this thing where I feel like the author lacks creativity when they split chapters with different peoples perspectives. I don't care what Evangeline or Cameron think, I want Mare. Granted there wasnt a lot of interesting things going on while she was imprisoned to be totally honest.
I only read two books and I agree. Most books that deal with something dark and violent have at least one character that isn’t as serious and is used to give the reader a break.A well known example is Hunger Games, Rue and Prim added sweetness, Peeta’s focus on Katniss took some tension from the overall situation and Finnick added charm. Plus Haymitch and Joanna added sarcasm.
The characters balanced out without taking away from the mood. Red Queen missed that, I would have liked to see Shade with a bigger role, he could break the tension.
That being said, I do enjoy the battles. I found them well written.
I agree as well. Over all it was an easy read, but I didn’t actually like Mare...and felt she was super unreasonable. And I didn’t see her as that powerful or much of a leader you know? However...I will likely still read the next book lol. I have a hard time not seeing a series to the end this far along.
I liked the beginning of the first book (the first 50 pages). After that, however, I found Red Queen dull. I want to keep reading the series because it deals with a very interesting concept, but I don't feel like making an effort to do so. Mare felt bland in Red Queen (probably because she's a blend of a lot of YA characters I've read before) and I'm not usually interested in continuing to read any series when the protagonist bores me.
I loved the first two books! But the last installment was such a dud... all that build-up, for nothing.
I liked the first few chapters and then the rest of it was a highly contrived slog fest with annoying characters. Wish I had just watched the movie because this book was negative entertainment. It was almost like seeing an X-menish Cinderella version of the Hunger Games from the perspective of a strong woman but not really character like Bella from Twilight instead of Katniss.
Just recently finished this series. The characters were one-sided or two confusing to categorize. It was also like someone was throwing dark-crying-sad-death salad at me with no humor, no lightheartedness, and generally no emotional, familial relationships. Wish Mare had comfortable and sweet exchanges with her parents rather than maybe just a few words and a hug here or there.

I just finished reading the Red Queen Series, well the 3 books that have been published so far.
I will be quite blunt. I had high expectation for this book/ series. But after completing them, it felt over hyped.
The characters were so bland, emotionless with no defining features (some I wondered why they were even there for example Kilorn). As for the story. it could have been better. It was just so slow, and incredibly repetitive. The actions seems are, lets be honest, small with absolutely no detail, as if the author didn't know how to write them.
The only appealing side to this series are the covers in my opinion, and even there, it is basically a gimmick now as multiple books and series are following the popularity of A Song of Ice and Fire and others.
I don't know. I just feel like people ready liked a book with no defining points, and failed to deliver in every sentence.
Is it just me?
Thanks for reading!
