No, there is not an English translation of either one. There have been excerpts of "Kingdom of this Earth" and translations of Druze into other languages besides English.
Oh Thanks. I have read excerpts of Kingdom of This Earth and that’s why I’d like to read more. I’ll keep waiting for an English translation. Thanks for your quick response.

We were hoping someone would pick up the complete Hoda Barakat. Marilyn had been trying for a while with publishers. But several houses are looking at her new novel out in December, The Night Post, so maybe this is the moment.
As for Jaber...he's such a recluse. :-) We will be lucky if we can snatch translations from him.

Ohhh as for Jaber, it seems like I’ve been reading reading about The Druze From Belgrade since it won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. I thought translation was part of the prize. Maybe if he knew people in the US find The Mehlis Report speaks to some of their current experiences he could be persuaded to let someone translate The Druze. Ask Marilyn Booth to please keep trying to get Kingdom published.
The description of snow is so beautiful.
Thanks for your time.

No, the IPAF has some subsidies for publishers, but that's the extent of it.
Rabee could easily have it published, but he seems to be in a hibernating phase, he isn't letting his work be published in Arabic either. Anyhow he is a genius so whatever he wants is OK with me. :-)
You have really highlighted two of the great living writers of Arabic. :-) :-)
& I will ask Marilyn where this is at!!

There is a U Tube video of Hoda Barakat being interviewed in English at the University of Virginia. So for publishers just to know there are many English speakers who already know about her work and would like more. For Rabee Jaber just to know those of us in the US waiting for the Robert Muller’s Report can identify with many of the descriptions in The Mehlis Report. We hope he is not worried about what might happen to him or his family if his work gets translated.
Thanks

Another translation question. Is there an English translation of Hot Maroc? I read a part of it in Banipal and loved the imagery. Can’t seem to find the whole book bookstore or internet. Maybe the data usage plan has expired?
Yassin Adnan’s Hot Maroc was longlisted for the 2017 International Prize for Arabic Fiction and is currently being translated by Alexander Elinson. You can hear more about it in episode 6 of the Bulaq podcast:
