E. Cormick (elynncormick) Der Reizen

I'll be here all day, or most of it, on the 17th of February to chat about my new book, Der Reizen. Everyone welcome to post a question.

E. Cormick (elynncormick) Mornin' everyone. Got your coffee and whatever else you need? I have and I'm going to be here for most of the day so if you have a question, ask away.

E. Cormick (elynncormick) There. I've had my breakfast and I'm on my second cup of coffee. I have another window open and I'm working on Book 4.

E. Cormick (elynncormick) The main problem with working with a spell-checker is that you have to keep adding place names and people's names, if they don't meet with the dictionary's current entries. That can be a pain in the p'toot, but it sure beats missing the typos.

E. Cormick (elynncormick) What program do you use to write your stories? I switch between Indesign (the word count is more accurate) and LibreOffice. The former I picked up several years ago as part of a package deal and the latter is a free download that can mimic Microsoft Office only does it a bit better.

E. Cormick (elynncormick) I've managed to finish up several pages and a chapter or two today and the day isn't over yet. It would be nicer if I weren't talking to myself, but as I have another chat at https://kpchat.slack.com/messages/C8X... on Monday evening, I have an excuse to sit at the computer and write instead of doing housework. ;)

E. Cormick (elynncormick) Well, all I have to do is wait for my daughter to finish work and we can go pick up a copy of TurboTax to do our taxes with. This year is the first year I've been counting what I pay out for things like stationery and printer ink in order to write my books. We'll see how it goes as far as allowable deductions go. I don't think I'll be allowed to claim anything for last year because I wasn't published then.

How do you get your taxes done? Do you use things like rent and power (or a portion thereof) as tax deductions? Can you?

E. Cormick (elynncormick) I got so carried away with writing the story that I forgot about marking chapters. Has this ever happened to you? How do you set up your chapters? Do you have an outline?

E. Cormick (elynncormick) Okay, I think I'm going to call it a day and shut the computer down for a bit. I'm starting to go cross-eyed from staring at the screen all day.

Take care, everyone. Stay gold.

E. Cormick (elynncormick) Now I have two books to talk about, Der Reizen, which is the beginning and the continuation, Sweet On Death. Anyone want to discuss one or the other? Or just writing things in general.
