Anyone in New England, more specifically in Mass, who have local meet-ups or are interested in doing one?

I'm a delinquent Sword & Laser member, but if there were a local meetup in the Boston/Massachusetts area that might be just the extra pressure I needed to make sure I keep up with the reading. I'm about 45 minutes north of Boston proper.

LOL Anyone in Salem area?
Oh man, I completely forgot to turn alerts on for this thread. I live 40-50 minutes southwest of Boston. I wonder where would be a good meeting place for all of us. I’m horrible with directions and knowing where anything is. I just had to google if I was south or north of Boston lol
Priscilla wrote: "I just had to google if I was south or north of Boston lol "I think that’s totally normal for this area. Even Google Maps is confused by Boston’s roads.
I'm willing to do a meetup, but it looks like folks here are geographically (and traffic-ly) dispersed. Day or week and time of day would for a meetup would change to my willingness to go to a particular location. For example, on a weekday evening, I would not want to travel further South than Boston/the Mass pike, and/or stay more-or-less within the 95/128 belt North of the city. On weekends, I'd be generally willing to head further West (say out to Framingham) as well as South (generally within 95/128).
Reading this thread is cracking me up. As a former Bostonian (Brookline, actually) I have to say that discussions of roads in Boston may make less sense than Trolley stops. Perhaps everyone should meet at the Boston Public Library for ease of meetup and then pick a restaurant. It's trolley close AND featured in two recent series', the Rick Riordan Norse gods books and The Invisible Library.
I’m putting this meme behind the spoiler tag for its saucy language, but it’s so hilariously true.(view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Pretty much.
John (Taloni) wrote: "...Perhaps everyone should meet at the Boston Public Library for ease of meetup and then pick a restaurant ..."They do an Afternoon Tea at the Courtyard Restaurant inside the library. The menus are presented inside old books. (Also, it's also a bit on the pricey side so probably not an appropriate venue.....)
*nostalgia tear*In addition to being my go-to library for research, the BPL is where Anne McCaffrey held a speech / meet and greet during my high school years. What a great library.
*cue Streisand* Memmmmoooorrrriiiiessss....
I recently moved to Bethel, Vermont and am expecting to be here for the next few years. I originally learned about S&L through a local meetup in Washington state and it was so much fun! If anyone lives within a couple hours, I would love to meet you and talk about books. I'm sure we could generate local interest for a monthly meetup! Let me know!
(looks at date of OP, looks at calendar)So....
Do folks want to try to pick a weekend in June to do a meetup at BPL?
POLL: S&L Meetup - Boston, June 2019https://doodle.com/poll/kmdqrdt4qm5q7zs4
Let's see how this goes.... Reply with your GoodReads display name. No email, etc. is required to respond if I set this up correctly.
The library is open 9a-5p Sat and 1p-5p Sun. Poll has both AM and PM options on Sat, and PM only option for Sun. We'll see how many of us can agree on a date. Plan to meet in the Newsfeed Cafe, and we can adjust if space is an issue.
Hi all! We've got 4 votes so far (including mine) for a Boston area S&L Meet-up. If you're in the area and interested in trying to do a June meetup at the Boston Public Library, please cast your vote. See post #27 for additional details. Since some of these dates are only few weeks a way, I'd like to wrap things up by the end of this week. Thanks!

Anyone going to Granite State Comic Con today?I’m tempted but this is almost the only place in the US where it’s raining today, after 2 weeks of gorgeous weather and I still have those pesky blood clots in my leg.
The guest list is packed this year, though. John Rhys-Davies, Gimli from LotR and Sallah from Indiana Jones. Nolan North, voice actor for pretty much every video game and cartoon you’ve ever heard of. Rob Paulsen (Pinky) and Maurice Lamarche (the Brain).
Since this is the 40th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which were created here in New Hampshire, pretty much everyone associated with the heroes on the half-shell are here, including Kevin Eastman, who dreamed them up.
A huge number of gaming creators are here, too, with Steve Jackson headlining. Plus like 40 comic book artists.
It kinda feels dumb for me to be on the fence since I’m literally 22 minutes away. Starts in 90 minutes.

I've got soggy What the Fluff Festival plans closer to Boston today. Apparently it's not rainy enough for the rain date.
