There is a lot going on in this novel, and a lot of things I like. It's a book about exploration of ones self and ones culture and mythology. Intertwining the personal with the cultural as a coming of age story. Set in Northern BC the story of Lisa is told through flash backs and the tale of the moment.

The way that the mystery surrounding Jimmy's disappearance unfolds and intertwines itself with the mythology the story is really well done. There are also a lot of other things that are brought up in the book, but aren't exactly tied in, or maybe I missed where the tie-ins were. The issues around Mick, and Baba-oo and residential schools all seem like important parts of the book that aren't directly brought up as parts of the story.

At the end of the book I think the whole, "what happened to Tab?" thing was a bit of loose end that didn't really get tied up at the end of the story. I was also half expecting to hear Mick was really Lisa's father at some point in the story as well. But maybe that was just me expecting too many forced twists.
