A convenient place to buy expensive, imported caffeine for the wealthy and sleep-deprived.

This isn't a date — Jinah had said so herself. This isn't a date, so he has nothing to worry about. So why is Jeongsu nervous? Oh. Right. Maybe it was the idea that one of the fans waiting outside the B.D. company building when he left might have followed him here. But he drives himself for a reason, and besides —

Pushing his glasses up on the bridge of his nose and hooking his face mask over his ear, he enters the coffee shop. As expected, the place isn't terribly crowded, anyway — he and Jinah aren't stupid, they are, at minimum, carefully stupid — and it takes only a moment for him to spot her near the window.

After ordering his own drink — an extra two shots of espresso, because God knows he's going to need it, and Jang Jeongsu is man enough to admit when he has an addiction — he walks over to join her and slides into the seat across from her. "Sorry to keep you waiting," he says. "My meeting ran later than expected."

"Hm." Jeongsu considers it for a moment — what he can say and what he can't, which parts Jinah might care about and which she wouldn't. "Oh, you know. Album preparations, like always. We're still not close to finalizing the tracklist." Which is, admittedly, largely due to Jeongsu's own stubbornness. There is also the looming issue of contracts, but he doesn't need to talk to Jinah about that, because — well, because Jeongsu doesn't know what he wants to do yet.

"But," he says, offering a tired smile, "busy is good. Where would I even be if I didn't have work to do?" Probably sitting at home alone watching online cooking tutorials, and this — meetings, arguments, packed schedules, being here with Jinah — is significantly more enjoyable.

This time, he smiles a little more fully. "Thank you," he says, earnestly. "It was a long process, but... I'm pretty happy with how it turned out." And he is. It isn't, of course, exactly as he wanted it, but — he's proud of it, nonetheless, and it certainly doesn't hurt to know that other artists, especially one involved in music production, enjoyed it, too. "And how have you been?" he asks. "Any exciting schedules coming up?"

I wish, he almost says, but that's not something that Jinx's beloved team-first leader is supposed to say. Instead he says, "It's a group comeback. Most of the others' dramas have wrapped, and with the anniversary coming up..." It makes the most sense. Jeongsu knows that. With the whole group available, fans will get more excited, with it closer to Jinx's anniversary, sales will be better, B.D. will get to say that yet another one of their groups has stayed successful for a long career. Everyone wins. Theoretically.

"Maybe," he replies, because, well, maybe. It's hard to say, really, because Jeongsu doesn't really know not-busy, never really has, and doesn't particularly want to learn. Or maybe it wouldn't be so bad. He'd have to wear his glasses more. He reaches up to push the glasses further up his nose. "It's my cover," he says, because disguise makes him sound like a little kid playing spies.

Jinah's whole face brightens up, and Jeongsu can't help but smile a little bit, too, behind his mug of coffee. "Oh? That's exciting," he says, because it is. Jeongsu almost misses the meetings with raised voices and back-and-forth on the title track choice. "Will I get a signed copy?" he says, "I think my sister might be too jealous of me then."

She's right. They do keep fogging up because of his coffee. In spite of himself, Jeongsu, a grown twenty-seven-year-old man, pouts. Jaehyung had made a similar comment about the glasses. Actually, everyone who had seen the glasses had thought so. But if someone were to just glance over, they wouldn't suspect it was him. Probably. If they were nearsighted and didn't know who Jinx were. "It's worked for seven years," he says, a little defensively, and, well. That's probably mostly because he rarely goes out in public, but it's still technically true.

"Deal," he says. "They don't call me Jinx's best negotiator for nothing." (Actually, no one calls him that, because he's the reason most of their meetings run past schedule with little to no actual progress. Jaehyuk had called him that, once, sarcastically. Jinah doesn't know that, probably.) And then, "What am I supposed to write, then? Thank you for allowing your sister to suffer at the hands of my poor acting for the duration of an entire season?"

For a moment, when Jinah's fingers brush against his face as she takes off his glasses, Jeongsu almost forgets to breathe. He's surprised, but not necessarily unpleasantly so. This is Nam Jinah, and there's always been something about her that keeps Jeongsu on his toes. "I don't need to see," he says, "I just need people to not see me." When he takes the glasses back from her, his hands linger a little too long, and he tells himself that it's unintentional.

"Ah, of course," he says, because, well, of course. (He's not surprised. He knows that his particular demographic tends to be with the older fans, and by older, he means at least forty.) And then he adds, "I bet it's Jaehyung, isn't it?" He tsks. "Well, I suppose no one can resist a pretty face."
