I read this a couple of years ago. The sparce style took some getting used to. It did not read as a smooth narrative, but felt like a series of paintings strung together to convey a story and atmosphere. I thought the sequel, "Bring Up The Bodies" was easier to engage with.
This one was a slog for me to get through and by the end I just wanted it over with. I didn't connect with any characters, and I hated the story, just felt so boring. And this is a period of history that I usually enjoy learning about! It's been a couple of years since I read it, but my remaining impression is just that of strong dislike.
