K.G. (kgjohnston) | 4 comments Hello. My name is K.G. Johnston and I'm the author of The Way of Effortless Leadership: Ancient Secrets on Cultivating a Culture of Trust, Engagement and Flow(publication date is February 11th, 2018).

You can now enter my Goodreads Giveaway for a signed print first edition copy. I take you on my journey West to follow a compelling dream, the paradoxical lessons I learned about leadership and why leaders should be looking to nature and ancient wisdom to engage people and transform organizational culture.

I'll also be making my ebook free on Amazon Kindle for five days next week to celebrate its launch. Your reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Peter (peterdonnelly) K.G. I've downloaded your book from Amazon - thanks for the heads up. I have a few books that I'm committed to reading over the next few weeks but I'd love to give this a read and feedback.

What would be your favourite leadership book other than your own and why?

K.G. (kgjohnston) | 4 comments Hi Peter,

Thanks!

Great question. I can't list just one book but I've give you a few of my favourites to consider.

I lean towards eastern philosophy and systems thinking. All the new science is pointing us back in the same direction that ancient masters discovered by observing nature.

Lao Tzu's "Tao Te Ching" and the "IChing" are ancient leadership and change management classics.

Here are some others written by western minds that have informed my perception.
1) David Rock "Your Brain at Work"
2) Margaret Wheatley's "Leadership and the New Science"
3) David Gelles' Mindful Work"
4) Peter Senge's "Presence" and "The Fifth Discipline"
5) Everything by Stephen Covey.

Cheers,
KG
