G.J. Griffiths (gjgriffiths) | 723 comments UPDATE: This is the Historical Fiction review group (Reviewing), which will include all types of novels classified as such; so may include books about the distant past where there is an aspect of verisimilitude to the plot ( I love that word!). As with other review groups, you will be expected to read and give an honest review of the book assigned to you. Assignments will be made after the group sign-up has filled.

Participants are expected to post reviews to Goodreads and to Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk as well. This makes having accounts with both Goodreads and Amazon a requirement. The author and reviewer can discuss other sites to post reviews as well - Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, etc.

This topic will be updated with the list of 10 authors as they sign up with their names and Goodreads links to their books and author sites. First come; first served. This is an authors only peer review group and is not a reciprocal review group. Please indicate in your submission if you have been reviewed before by another author listed to give me chance to change the final listing.

**Note if there too many conflicts regarding previous reviews that author may need to wait for the next opportunity of a similar genre group.

Please post to this topic, both when you receive review copies and when you post the reviews.
If you are going to be late with your review, either post to this topic as soon as possible or message the author and the moderator.
If your book has not been reviewed by the deadline for any round, contact the review group moderator. This is necessary to make certain that the review process is fair for everyone.

**Sign-ups are open until February 21st--or until all ten spots are filled**
**Please note that if you have joined an earlier group but did not fulfil your commitment you will not be accepted into new review groups. You may risk losing your membership of this review group in that event**

Your Moderator is G.J. Griffiths

Christina Michaels (chrismichaels) | 14 comments So I have a historical fiction and would love to get in on this. However, I am currently in group 169. I have no outstanding reviews, but I have upcoming deadlines. Am I allowed to be in two groups at once, as long as I hit both sets of deadlines?

Gill | 25 comments Hi, I have a novel in the pipe-line, but have still to edit it so it will be a short while before it is ready for review. I have moved twice in two years (1000 miles the first time), and lost five years work when my back up drive failed, my laptop conked out and my computer froze simultaneously.
Today I have been given a new laptop and will start gathering what I can find and editing it all. Meantime I have written a lot of stories covering several millennia, and edited five books for another Goodreads author.
However I am more than willing to read someone else's work and give a frank appraisal of it if that is acceptable.

M.F. Hopkins | 6 comments I don't have a historical fiction book in the works, but I'd be glad to read and review one.

Note that I prefer not to leave a review on Amazon, as I have a separate 'reader' profile there (and here), and prefer to remain anonymous with this Goodread's author profile.

Rebecca Hazell (rebecca_hazell) | 35 comments I'm interested, but the novel I'm working on now isn't finished. I'd like to join a second round, however. By then I will be done.

Tito Athano (bobspringett) | 17 comments I am prepared to be a reviewer, but have none of my own books up for review at the time. I'm happy to just review.

If putting up a book is an essential requirement, in the past I have published four 'Alternative History' books based on Rome starting from 91 B.C., using the pen-name Tito Kithes Athano. Let's pick 'Sulla and Silo', available as a free download through my Author Page.

My book, which explores the history of the main character's ancestors, can be found here:
https://www.amazon.com/Emma-Ancestors...

My author's page is:
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I have not been reviewed in the past, and have not reviewed any of the authors who have posted for inclusion thus far.

I'd be very happy to review an assigned book. Thank you for the opportunity.

message 21: by G.J. (new)

G.J. Griffiths (gjgriffiths) | 723 comments Wow! That filled up very quickly - so many that I may consider forming two groups. It depends upon the many and varied complications involved in avoiding conflicts. So in the cause of simplicity the first group will mainly include those authors who have not been reviewed by/not reviewed others before in the list of submissions above. But in addition I may not include authors who are currently in another GR review group. I'm not sure yet but apologies if that eventually means you. :-(

I now need some time to arrange 10 authors reading/reviewing 4 books over 4 rounds (of about 3-4 weeks each round). Please bear with me and if I can remind everyone there are no reciprocal reviews in this group so if you spot a conflict please tell me ASAP.
A couple of people above have not posted their GR author + book page. I need this if you are not to be left out of the assignments. Thanks.
G.J.

Disappointed, but I get it. Keep me in mind for a second group if you do one.

Wondering if it helps if you split the four of us from #169 between this group and a second if you do it - less conflicts in just one group is my thinking. Not sure if that's how it works.

Thanks for all your efforts putting this together. Obviously a very popular idea!

NOTES: Contact the authors you are scheduled to review to arrange to receive a review copy of their work. I strongly suggest that you do not exchange email addresses through this topic stream but use the GR direct message system, to avoid scammers and co.

If you have been reviewed before by anyone in the list you must let me know immediately to allow me to rearrange things.

Please post to this topic, both when you receive review copies and when you post the reviews. If you are going to be late with your review, either post to this topic as soon as possible or message the author and the moderator.

A polite “Thank you, Reviewer name” from the author is a pleasant way of acknowledging a review and all that is expected. I hope we all agree that it is not seemly or very professional to publicly engage in unpleasant banter or rant about one’s review.

The author/book links will be posted later in the author members list above - but if you know how to contact them go ahead.
So if all is OK on 10th Feb then let the reviewing commence!
G.J.
(I am working on a second group).

Yes, I can provide any format the reader/reviewer prefers.

message 44: by G.J. (new)

G.J. Griffiths (gjgriffiths) | 723 comments Mary you are probably correct in that the blurb for your book makes me think it comes under the fantasy/sci-fi genre. This review group is about arranging peer group reviews so there will be one set up at some time that suits you and your book.

Daniel ideally a book should be available for exchange with four other author reviewers. But even so there were many more submissions here than usual. If I get chance I may set up another historical fiction group as I stated above, but no guarantees. We moderators are volunteers and life can get in the way sometimes sorry to say.

Hi Trish, Yes, I have been very aware from the start that your reply to my question helped initiate this genre group's creation. Unfortunately, every time I tried to include you with another author from #169 it would not work because of conflicts. If I can get time to create Historical Fiction Part 2 I will attempt to fit you in once more. Thanks for your helpful input.

Thanks for the offer to review, Tito, but as you can see this is a peer group so each member has to review 4 fellow authors. However, if problems arise (illness, life etc) your offer could be very helpful later.
