What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

From what I remember it's about a female character that get's sent to a different world/dimension in order to have a better chance at survival (Think someone was trying to kill her or something)

*SPOILER*
A old man gave his life to ensure she makes it, he pushed her through the "portal" or whatever it might have been.

The "portals" journey was very hard on her and she comes out looking like mincemeat. Bloodied and nearly dead.

A group of warrior find her after they come back from a mission (some wanting to kill the bundle of moving mush) and takes her to their hospital.

She recovers (Takes a very long time) and she befriends one of the warriors, though he comes to love/like her.

(Now here is where I start forgetting)
She's super strong because the pressure is different from Earth and she weighs a lot compared to the men.

They journey somewhere and she gets to know the other warriors a little better (Think she meets her "Mate" in one of them)

Believe this is a series and not a stand alone but I might be wrong.

When did you read it? Was it a paper book, ebook, other?

Was a ebook, I read it last year.

Can you say any more about why you think it was a series? Like did this book end on a cliffhanger or something? Would you call this a YA book or more adult? And finally (this will sound weird but I have a reason for asking lol), was there anything about an old man and an owl in it?

I think I read this too! Was she in a hospital room for observation ? While she was healing... A guy is assigned to her case . He visits every day. She orders necessities off of a computer. I remember this! I'll check my library
