Chatter here about the book you are reading for the word "new"! Some suggestions are a new author to you, a new series you're starting, or a book that was released in 2018. How are you interpreting this challenge?

I have not read any P.D. James yet either. I do have Death Comes to Pemberley sitting on my shelf. Maybe I'll go pull it out for my TBR ^-^

Awesome Keriann! I read Behind Closed Doors, but I'm struggling through The Breakdown. In fact, I have it sitting right next to me and I haven't touched it in a while. I think it's the base of the subject matter that bothers me. I look forward to hearing what you think about the new one ^-^

Paperback Junky (ihatemattwall) | 21 comments I've picked up a couple Margret Millar based on some Steve Donoghue recommendations. Never read her. Maybe I'll go down that road with her.

I have this one on my physical shelf. It has been there unread for a while I'm embarrassed to say. Maybe your review will encourage me to finally pick it up.

Hi Di! I finished Casino Royale but unfortunately I only liked the plot. I did not like the writing style and I did not feel much for the characters.
I think I prefer the movies when it comes to Bond ;)

Hi Berna! Unfortunately I found the same after I read Casino Royale. In fact, I hated being in James Bond's mind! That completely ruined it for me ^-^

The book I read for this challenge is not a new release, but it is a new author to me. Plus I picked up a brand new copy at Dollar General in February. Since I rarely buy brand new books, this is a good pick for me. The book was Defending Jacob by William Landay. It was a library book club pick from a few years ago that I never read, but always intended to.
The story was very compelling, but I didn't particularly like or respect the main characters who seemed a bit "morally gray" to me. Still, everything worked together to make a fascinating story.
Defending Jacob by William Landay

message 41: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Franklin | 3 comments Finished “Books Can Be Deceiving” by Jenn McKinlay yesterday as my new book. It’s the newest mystery to my collection and, since it’s the first book in a series, I now need to read the others! It was a very good cozy mystery!
