Abducting Abby discussion

For the life of me I cannot remember the titles of this series. Space ships have sentient beings trapped in them. In the first book a woman is kidnapped and befriends the being. She ends up helping it escape when she is rescued. The rest of the series has other lead women but the focus is finding the other ships to free them.

Anyone recognize this? Any help is appreciated

I realize this is very, very old, but...since I'm here...I'm pretty sure this is the Class 5 series by Michelle Diener. It starts with Dark Horse.
