Question: Can I just pick whatever abilities I want for my character? Or do they have to be elemental? Or... like anything in that realm? Could I pick something like Magnekinesis (the manipulation of metal)?
Anything in that realm.Magnekinesis would work.
You would give it another name however, like "Metal" or "Magnets", a word that relates to it.
Okay, so if I wanted to do like blood manipulation, I would just put blood? Also, how much of a difference does there have to be in the colors? If I wanted to put down blood red, is that too close to scarlet red?
As long as it's a different name, then it's pretty much a "different" color. You could call it crimson red if you want.
Question: Would like... a charmspeak-like ability be allowed?
Well, EJ's character's ability is Charm. Which is close to it.The abilities are mostly physical though, because you are killing people with it, and the weapons are like constructs of the ability.
So the abilities/weapons are more physical than like, psychological?

What about something kind of like the sectumsempra spell in HP? (With limitations of course)
It's less the ability to manipulate blood and more the ability to cut, though. So would that be okay? Or no?
Kind of like sectumsempra, like I said? With limitations on maybe like the distance from which it is used and the depth of the cuts. Like, only able to be used within a certain proximity of the target, and the cuts can only go so deep, etc.
I'm sort of unsure...Because, in the manga, the abilities were all physical combat focused.
But the sectumsempra is sort of iffy, because you sort just make cuts appear on them.
In most cases people construct their abilities into weapons, because it make them more focused and powerful, and that's how they fight.
If you want, you can have you character's ability be wind related, and you can cut your enemies with wind.
Okay, that works ^_^
Thanks for the clarification, and sorry for being a bother.
Thanks for the clarification, and sorry for being a bother.
I'm going to edit the information topic to make everything more clear, because the manga didn't give any exact explanation, but I'll make some specifics and examples.
The first post of the thread:
Bold questions—the question itself, not the word "question"
Italicize and underline suggestions—the suggestion itself, not the word "suggestion"
I'm slightly confused about the RP, so would you mind explaining? Also, in the Characters folder I'm confused by all of the different threads. What does each one mean?
What part about the RP are you confused by?(Did you read the info. topic, it might help a bit?) The Future A-1 Characters, are those who are part of the game and attempting to make it to A-1 to get their wished granted.
Normal Characters, are character who are not part of the game, they can be the friends or family members of those in the game.
"Lost" Characters, are those who used to be part of the game, but then they will killed. As a result their worst fear came true and they lost their memories about the game.(Right J-Ice?)
The Abstract Characters, are also Imaginators who are part of the game, but their abilities are slightly different and more dangerous.
"Lost" Characters can be either of the following:-They were players in the game before, but they were "killed" in the Reverse World before. Then they made a new wish that may have something to do with the penalty they face in a previous game and they came back.
Or
-They are players that will die before reaching Class A or Class B. when and how they die will depend on the person who created that "Lost" Character
Okay:How do Lost characters die?
What is the difference between the two worlds?
What do you do in the RP threads?
What does the abilities and colours have to do with the game?
Is it just Lost characters that die?
How do you get from B to A, for example?
The players kill each other. The colored world is the normal world.
The reverse world looks the same, except everything is white and colorless, and only the players are in it.
What do you do in the RP threads?
What do you mean?
The Imaginator have a color, because the reverse world is colorless, and so whenever they create something it is that color. The abilities are the Imaginator's way to fight each other and essentially, kill each other.
Basically.
Imaginators move up ranks by killing other players are winning games at the Casino.
Only "Lost" characters can be killed. Most of the questions you have been addressed in some way in the group description or the important info topic though
If you read the Guidelins topic, then you should know that every person must create at least one Lost and Future A-1 character. There will be people making Lost characters.
(Sorry for being such a bother >.< )
Matt, do you have any suggestion on what to call the power we discussed last night?
Matt, do you have any suggestion on what to call the power we discussed last night?
I just wanted to make the suggestion that it might be a good idea to have the claims and character workshop in two different threads.
I feel like it would reduce a lot of clutter in the claims thread, but that's just me.
Also, I think it might be a good idea to ask people claiming abilities to put a description along with their powers and add it in a spoiler to the actual list as well.
I know that when I'm looking for a power, I'm not going to know what specific ones are just by their names. It would also reduce confusion in the thread and just make everything a little easier for people to claim things. However, again, that's just my opinion.
I was thinking about that. Plus, if people are specific, then it will be easier for people to make similar abilities that work differently.
Question: Would skin hardening be considered as an ability my character can have? I wanted to ask before I claim it > - >
Would the ability to make someone else and their movements heavy (slowing them down and making it harder for them to move, etc.) be appropriate?
I'm sort of unsure. Okay, so in the manga, the way there powers worked is that the Imaginator constructs it with their imagination. That's why that said it out loud, like a command. They can hold out their hand and say "Electricity" and in their hand appear electricity.
The with the abstract, the thing they construct is a concept.
If you want a power that isn't physically in their hand, then you can try to think of a concept that could be made into an abstract ability.
In manga, the character's concept was "Erosion" and they would "Erode away at other people's imagination" meaning that they were able to destroy other people's constructs.
So, if really want something, think of an abstract ability and explain it well at the abstract topic.
(That's how you cheat.)
@Bree:Something like pressure or gravity you mean? If it's something along those lines, it may be an abstract ability. In my opinion, pressure could be used as a combat ability somehow.
