Deception is called Deception because it is Deceptive!

The Spirit of Holiness is our only source truth, light, and life. In Him is no variableness, nor shadow of turning. Abandonment, severance from, or willful defiance of The Holy Spirit leads only always to deception, darkness, and death. Men are instruments. We choose who to be governed by. Satan would steal, kill and destroy. Jesus Christ would love, provide abundantly, and set us free.
Choose this day whom you will serve, and let your light so shine before men they will see the good works of your Father and be drawn to His salvation.

John 17:17 - "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth ."

Jesus was highly aware of the deceptive powers of satan, and thus He WARNED the men that He personally trained to BEWARE of DECEPTION .
Most DECEIVERS appear to be genuine. They often come across as very "loving" and "caring". They make their doctrines sound Biblical (i.e. deceptive)... BUT they contain very SUBTLE twists and contortions of the truth... which make them LIES .
