This is the place for you to suggest a classic you would like to be our group book for the coming month! Once we've gotten some suggestions rolling I'll make a poll in a seperate post and we can vote on it. I'll kick us off with some classics that are at the top of my list:
- Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (guy kills someone and guilt catches up with him)
- Orlando by Virginia Woolf (young nobleman in Elizabethan times transforms into a woman three centuries later)

Welcome everyone! Please feel free to suggest some classics :)

message 3: by Hanna (new)

Hanna I would love to finally read North and South (it's so big that I have been scared to pick it up until now), but Fahrenheit 451 and Wuthering Heights have been on my TBR for far too long now as well.

message 4: by Randa (new)

Randa Mathias (randa_mathias) Most of the classics I really want to read are huge! A Tale of Two Cities, The Count of Monte Cristo and Anna Karenina have been on my TBR for forever!

message 5: by Bailey (new)

Bailey (feathertofly) I've been wanting to get around to The Catcher in the Rye for soooo long. I somehow never had to read it in school, and with all it's references in Gilmore Girls, I need to get to it ASAP

Same on North and South and Wuthering Heights! I've read Fahrenheit 451 but totally can't remember much of it so need to re-read :)

Ahhh The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all-time faves, it's worth the length haha. I had a copy but loaned it to someone and they never gave it back 😢Need to get another copy

Ahhh it's so good imo :) That would be an interesting one to discuss too coz I know a lot of people that hate it, as well as a lot that love it

Elena (Elemar Books) (elemarbooks) I would love to read either North and South or Crime and Punishment. Both would be re-reads for me but I love all things Gaskell and I really enjoy Dostoevsky. However, I'm not opposed to trying something new 😁📚

Have heard such good things about both! I'm up for either re-reads or books I haven't read before too :)

Deanna | 6 comments Wuthering Heights is one of my favorites! I've been wanting to read (re-read) Little House on the Prairie, Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden and The Time Machine. All books I read when I was young, but don't remember much. Or maybe Moby Dick, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which I somehow haven't gotten to yet. There are too many, I couldn't narrow it down.

Haha I'm the same way, there are so many. LOVE Little House on the Prairie, you've reminded me that I need to re-read that series sometime regardless :)

Happy Reading Watching (nashelie) Peter Pan is a great read, it's beautiful and very short. I really enjoyed it and need to reread it soon.

The winner in the poll was The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger! I'll put up a discussion section for it at the start of the month. This is one of my all time favourite classics so I can't wait to re-read it. I also know a lot of people who really don't like it so it's going to make for some engaging discussions! So excited :)

message 20: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Martin (kellymartinbooks) | 6 comments I just bought Something Wicked This Way Comes and The Picture of Dorian Gray. I've wanted to read North and South forever. Wuthering Heights is my all time Favorite book.
