Sweet, the more the merrier. This just went up the other day. I've caught up on a bunch of reading so I thought I could squeeze it in.

I just started this morning, my hold came off just in time for it to count as a BR

oh wow! i actually started reading this a couple days ago and didn't even know about this! i will slow down so i am not done with it before then and can follow along.

Downloaded a copy with audio from library. The 8th sounds good.

Starting this morning. So far this is a departure from the normal books of this genre which is what drew me to it so I'm happy it is.

I keep forgetting to update as this is a book I'm enjoying going with the flow, but I'm well over halfway through

general spoilers regarding the "patients" particularly Amy's zoo experience (view spoiler)[ I am wondering what role the connections re: communicating with animals/ making them irritable has to do with it. I see things later in the book related to this but I'm not 100% the role it plays (hide spoiler)]

very good book, I'm happy that it takes a theme and doesn't make it feel as contrived as some other books do

Through chapter 9. I know this is going to sound odd since there's so little in common between the books but this reminds me of 11/22/63. I think it's the way every scene is set in a small town nostalgic manner and there's a real sense of compassion from the main characters.

(view spoiler)[I'm really surprised at how far the timeline has advanced so quickly. We start out at AV 0 for a long time at the start. Then quickly AV 2 for a heartbeat, AV 17 for another heartbeat and then wham AV 102.

Also I wasn't expecting vampire zombies which is essentially what we have here.

I still like the book but questionable choices that might have been better a different way. (hide spoiler)]

I'm starting this weekend, but I'm reading the Dutch translation. I bought the trilogy in Dutch. This part has almost 1000 pages!

I finished this morning. Overall I liked it a lot. A few things dug at me a bit.

I was just talking to a nurse last night about this series and he said its quite good, and that book 3 addresses some things that are alluded to that I mentioned in my spoilers

So far I enjoy reading it. It has a fast pace and the book keeps me interested. The writing makes me think like the writing of Stephen King.

I'll try to post an update tomorrow about this book. Right now, I keep on reading. This is such an intriguing book: the story, the style of writing...It keeps the tention going, but in a subtile manner.

So my thoughts so far:

(view spoiler)[As you begin to read about Amy and unfolding the plans that they have with her, you know that this can't go well. The scientists use drunk people and convicted people as experiments, but I personally asked myself why Grey isn't one of them? He has a record of conviction too and maybe they use this group particulary to create 'glowsticks' with more evil than normal creatures? Very creative how the writer choosed the word 'glowsticks'. Never heard that one before.I'm now reading at that point where Bob shows up in the cabin. Amy seems to be slowly infected with the virus for so far. All the rest turned very quickly and I think it's because the thymus (I think it's called that?) is working slower for her? It's strange that so far the glowsticks didnt found Amy and Wolgast. Besides being infected and also before that, does Amy has special powers, because of what happened in the zoo? (hide spoiler)]

The whole story so far makes me think about a mix of 'The Strain', 'The Walking Dead' and '28 days later'.

I had to just start this over because I put it down and promptly forgot everything about...

Sooo..... I'm so far getting some serious Green Mile vibes. I'm liking the writing style so far, I think it's nice and straight forward which works for this type of content.

I'm halfway the book. I hope to finish it next week.

I was wondering if he can control the frequences that Michael get in the city? Because people are getting weird, like Sanjay. And Amy can control the virals too? (hide spoiler)]

Isn't Babcock Zero? I think he was the first one and potentially the most powerful. That's the impression I got, but I may be completely wrong.

Finally finished this yesterday. Final thougths coming this week.

I'm not a fan of books about vampires, zombies, etc., because they talk mostly about the same thing, but this book took me by the hand and I never let go of it.
What attracted me about the story is that it's character driven. In books about those themes it's action driven, but the characters had a main position and because of that I stayed focused on the story.
I didn't mind about the time jumpes, because they were very subtile and every time the author just told enough, but not to much to give the story away and to keep the reader focused.
I've read the Dutch version and that was around 994 pages, much more than the original version. At moments there were bits of the story that I found that could be left away, because of being unnecesary and to much filling and unnecesary details.
There are 3 parts in the book and you can easily recognise them. The story is a bit claustrofobic with a good scare at the moment, but it lets you think about how you will react in a situation.
After all it's a post - apocaliptical story that grabs you by the neck and doesn't let go until the finish.

I've heard that FOX will be releasing the series this year on tv.
