I'm 45 pages in. It started quite oddly and I wasn't quite sure I was going to like it but I've settled into the story. I was a little surprised at some of the derogatory ethnic slang. Some of those names I haven't heard since I was a kid, not from my family.

I thought it was going to go in one direction and pick up the pace and then it went the opposite direction and reset everything. The interactions also had too much of a YA angst for my liking.

Ok so I finally started over, since I put this down last month. So far I'm not seeing the problem @Scott mentioned. It's a slow start, but I'm curious to see where it all goes.
I'm actually loving this, the world building and scope of everything is handled really well.

I'm glad you liked it. Perhaps I wasn't patient enough but when things reset just as it was picking up momentum it seemed like the book was going to be a series of non sequiturs.

I'm not saying that I'm sure you'll like it, but I'm still thinking about it. There were so many layers to this, and so many topics that that were addressed so subtly and handled so well. It's definitely a story that I will re-read in the future.
