Loved this book. The scene with the chauffer and the coffin scared me to death. Movie was awesome too. How could you go wrong with Karen Black Oliver Reed and Bette Davis?

That chauffer was creepy as all get out.

I saw the movie years ago. Hadn't known it was based off a book until a few years ago.

The movie stayed true to the book - the ending for both worked!!! No disappointments at ALL!

Same here. I only vaguely remembered the movie at first, (that chauffeur!!), but as I was reading a few other scenes did come back to me. I need to see that movie again.

I believe it was on cable a few months back on a weird time, like during the day and I forgot to dvr it.

Yes, that chauffeur was creepy, with those shades on! Karen Black was just awesome too, especially at the end!!!

I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid and my parents took me to the drive-in to see it. I must've been about 10 years old and had seen lots of horror movies by that time. However, this one REALLY scared me and that chauffeur has stayed in my mind all of the years since then.

(view spoiler)[ The scene in the book where the guy is trying to make room by clearing out the weeds and growth in the driveway, when he suddenly hears the car? And he tries to ignore it until the bumper of the chauffeur's hearse hits the back of his legs?

When I was reading that scene, I swear to all that is holy, goosebumps broke out on my skin. It was so vividly written and it freaked me the hell out. (hide spoiler)]

Mine was The Fury. Can you imagine letting in 8-10 year-olds in the movie theaters?

All of those scared me! I even had nightmares about Jaws and I didn't even live by an ocean!

Yep! Bit of nostalgia though...

Actually, Jaws was one of the movies that really scared me too. Not really a horror movie, but scary as hell.
