Hey Louise, would love to hear about your experience with your debut, as well as how this time 'round is going! I've been scouring message boards and Google for stories of YA books that have been picked up, but they're few and far between.I just listed a YA fantasy on Scout this week (https://goo.gl/aEu6Zh) and I've been surprised at how high page views are compared to the stats other authors have shared, but it's not hitting H&T at all and I don't see many other YAs on the list, which makes me wonder if YA is much less popular on Scout to begin with? (Or, y'know, what I posted just sucks. That's a possibility too lol.)
Hi KA, I'm so sorry, I don't know why Goodreads didn't flag this post for me. I've only just found it. I think YA was always a much harder sell within the Kindle Scout world -and online generally. Also towards the end there were many many Scouts - twice or three times as many as when I ran my campaign for The Devil''s Poetry. As a result I think you could get very high numbers of page views and not make H&T at all because the overall numbers are in the many thousands. And more Scouts seemed to play it as a game rather than genuinely supporting books they liked. They would instead pick the three they liked the look of best of those which were on the last day of their campaigns, so maximising their own chances of free books but in a fairly indiscriminate way. Overall I think it became a difficult environment for writers. And then of course Scout closed so by the time you and I were running our recent campaigns, I think KP had already decided not to pick up anymore books. They couldn't come out and say that but they didn't take anything after early Feb and they'd taken a fraction of the novels in the previous three months than they had in the same period of 2017. I know a few KP writers, including myself who had feedback from KP saying they liked this book even better than the last but they weren't selecting it for other reasons.
How did you get on in the end? Did you self publish or are you going another route?

The Scout campaign for my sequel #YA fantasy is live. Please take a look and nominate if you like what you see. https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/2DXQ...
My first novel was picked up by KP last year so please ask if you have any questions about the post-Scout process.
Thanks
Louise
