Why do you think Vance had John Creighton reach out to Harry on his behalf if he wasn’t going to involve him in the investigation? Could he have done this on his own? And why do you think he chose Harry?

I don't know why Vance would involve Creighton unless he just wanted to rub his nose in the fact that he had hired Bosch and wasn't going to tell him why. Maybe that is why Vance didn't hire Harry himself but used Creighton as a go-between.
