Reading with E. discussion

That ending destroyed me. I was so hopeful Ollie would make it through alive and grow old with her daughter knowing who her mother was.

True. Almost as shocking, if not more was how everyone else died. I didn't see that fire coming. Not at all.

I kept waiting for the marriage of Oly and McGurk--since she started referring to herself as "Hopalong McGurk" from the start of the book. When the Zephir McGurk character showed up at the half-way point, I thought, "Okay...here's the husband..." Having Horst give Oly that name after the fire was brilliant. I actually spoke out loud, when I got to that part: "Now, goddamn it..."

I want more of Oly's story. Need more. Such an interesting character.

Same here. I may have listened to it, but I'm gonna read it in the future for sure. It was so good. I'd crack into it now, but I'm reading ANCILLARY JUSTICE, STORM FRONT and the 7th DARK TOWER book so I'm good. lol. I do hope that there's an authors cut out there somewhere. That'd be excellent.

I agree completely. Given the ending, I don't know how much more of Oly we could get, but I wanted more. I wish she'd hung around for a sequel--and I hate sequels.
