✿ Natalie ✿ | 428 comments I used to read so many paranormal romance books where a human woman was thrust into a paranormal world which she previously hadn’t known existed, and falls in love with a gorgeous, dangerous paranormal guy.
The paranormal romance books I’ve recently read tend to focus on heroines who also are themselves a vampire, witch, fae etc, and I miss reading the ones with a human heroine.

I’m looking for recommendations of books where the heroine is a human, with no previous knowledge of the otherworld, and who finds herself thrown into this new reality, where she falls in love with a paranormal man (vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter...)

Books I used to enjoy like this are Sherrilyn Kenyons early Dark Hunter books (like Night Pleasures), the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and the Dark series by Christine Feehan.

Many thanks!

Michelle Gilmore | 151 comments I feel the same way Natalie. I don't have much time to read for leisure anymore, but when I do, that's what I want to read. I can't wait to see what everyone recommends.

I love this kind of storyline! But you're right; most heroines in these PNR's end up having some kind of preternatural ability.

Tajael (Fallen Angels #1) by Alisa Woods which I read recently fits the bill.

Unspoken (The MacLauchlans, #1) by Kerrigan Byrne Unwilling (The MacLauchlans, #2) by Kerrigan Byrne Unwanted (The MacLauchlans, #3) by Kerrigan Byrne is a Historical PNR trilogy--I really dig it.

And if I recall correctly, A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter works as well.

Best of luck!

tinyteaplots I, also, really love this trope!

Have you read the Dark Protectors Series by Rebecca Zanetti? There are a couple I haven't read yet (there are 8 novels and 7 novellas) but I plan to catch up soon because the series is awesome.

If you are interested in some YA you could try the Existence Trilogy by Abbi Glines and the Eden Trilogy by Nicole Williams. I thought these were both amazing series, and surprisingly sexy considering the YA categorization.

✿ Natalie ✿ | 428 comments Thank-you everyone for your book suggestions! I’ve enjoyed looking them up.
It’s nice to see I’m not the only one who enjoys this mix of hero and heroine!

I will add a book to this thread which I’ve nearly finished reading, and which fits the bill of human heroine/paranormal hero: Pestilence by Laura Thalassa
Pestilence (The Four Horsemen, #1) by Laura Thalassa
