“Hunting Prince Dracula” by Kerri Maniscalco is the second book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. Audrey Rose, the main female lead, is a forensic scientist in a time where that is frowned upon. After dealing with the shocking and heartbreaking revelations of the Jack the Ripper case, Audrey Rose heads to Romania to a forensic science school set in the Bran Castle. She is not alone though, as she is accompanied by her friend and partner Thomas Cresswell. As the story continues, murders start occurring, leading everyone to believe Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) has risen from the dead. Now, the two partners set on their own investigation trying to find the killer, while still trying to earn their spot into the academy. As the story comes to a close, there will be twists, betrayal, and unexpected findings that will make you want to read the next book immediately (well when it comes out in September).
Beginning this series with the first book “Stalking Jack the Ripper,” I really didn’t know what to expect since this was more of a thriller, which is something I don’t usually read. As I finished that book my uncertainty completely went away, and I could not wait to start the second book. “Hunting Prince Dracula” by Kerri Maniscalco was an awesome book that kept me wanting to read more of it. Each page kept you at the edge of your seat, wondering what would happen next. I am someone who loves a good story and that is exactly what Kerri Maniscalco gave. This book provides history, struggle, and imagination. With each word, page, and chapter, Audrey Rose gave you something of herself that you could easily relate to at some point in your life. I would definitely recommend not only this book to someone, but the entire series because it is so good. Even though the last two books have not been released yet I have a good feeling that the author will not disappoint. For me, I have not read a book so good and well written in awhile. This book and the rest of the series is on the rise to being one of my very favorites. “Hunting Prince Dracula” can have an audience of young adult, but I think adults could really like it too because of the tales and history it brings to life. An ongoing story of crime, mystery, and love, this is a book that is pure creativity and is something that I will certainly remember.
