great! Briggs is an auto buy for me so I'll start close to release day.

Briggs' husband died last year. She seems to be moving forward, has gone to signing for her new release etc..., but he did research for her and kept up her webpages. I loved his web series on silver bullets and how impractical they are to make. He did persevere and made some working ones.
Silver Bullets if any are interested.

OK, today is release day but I won't be able to start until I finish the book I'm reading.

Maybe tomorrow. I have some great new released today, this one, Burn Bright (Alpha & Omega, #5; Mercy Thompson World - Complete, #15) by Patricia Briggs and then
Lake Silence (The Others, #6) by Anne Bishop , Tricks for Free (InCryptid, #7) by Seanan McGuire , and Last Dragon Standing (Heartstrikers, #5) by Rachel Aaron

Read it today and Briggs has put out another great one. My only complaint right after reading it is that there was too much going on at some points, with multiple new characters. Man I came to the same (view spoiler) conclusion that they did. And just didn't know what to make of it.

Jackie (findingjackie) | 4 comments Ok. I really like Briggs normally. She is one of my few re-read authors and I have her stuff on audio as well to listen to while working.

But I've had this book for over 2 weeks and I haven't been able to finish it. :( That is certainly not normal for a Briggs book. Ugh!! The conversation!! I know if anyone has read past this portion will know what I'm talking about. I hated it so much I put the book down to give myself some space. I've picked up the book since then and I get so skeeved out at the thought of all the implications it throws out, I just put it back down. I'll try again tonight.

Finally got it and just starting to read.
I got a little distracted with my new obsession in Chicagoland Vampires.

Chicagoland has been hit or miss for me though I really liked it at first. Need to finish it out since I only have a couple books left and it is a finished series. I have so many series like that.

I really liked this book even with its faults. I love the world and the characters that she creates. Didn't take but a day to read this one.

I'm in a reading funk but it looks like I'm pushing through, though not happy with what I'm pushing through. I almost want to do a reread of Alpha & Omega, to get me out of it. I think it is too soon though.

Christine D | 20 comments I feel the same, this is not Briggs best book. I'm almost done with it and I should finish by end of today.
This is the only book with Mercy or A&O that I am almost bored in certain places of the book. I think she must have pushed through this one, her husband passing may have been a contributing factor in the lacking of her usual flair in Briggs writing.

Christine D | 20 comments Well Burn Bright was not my favorite Briggs book for sure, but it was by far not the worst book I have ever read ether. I would rather read Briggs on a bad day then a lot of other authors out there. I guess getting A LOT of back ground info on new and old charterers, was a bit tedious at times. Hopefully this will be a opening to the next book because it just did not hit the sizzle and excitement we usually get from Briggs.

I will have to see how my reread is, as I get those drags on reread sometimes. Still I really liked it. Just thought there was a little too much going on at points.

Jackie (findingjackie) | 4 comments I finally finished it. I think this book was already complete before her husband passed, (at the publisher but not released) but this one does give the impression the series is starting to lag for her.

I was disappointed with this one. I don't want to put out too many spoilers yet but I could have a field day with issues I had.

I heard that also, about it already was at publishers. So I guess we will see with the next, what the influence might be.

I was disappointed with the last one but not this one. I haven't reread the last one so don't know how I'll feel on reread. With Briggs I've been known to change my mind
