Seriously, I didnt love Ms. Cherry's other books but this cover made me want to meet these characters. I nom'd it for BR in one of my groups and when everyone started reading it and talking about how emotional...I was thinking of ditching it. But it was worth the pain. I love my sweet, broken Elliot.

I dont like HS books but this one and In Harmony didnt bother me. This one does move past HS though.

I'm trying to read slow-ish until Kooloo gets home from running her errands, so I'm still at 26%.

For me, the whole reason why this book worked is because I felt connection to characters right away. Jasmine was interesting and I immediately feel in love with Elliot. I dont know why some characters just grab my heart, but these ones are awesome. I adored side characters too.

That's good because I feel like I've connected with them too. I also love Ray.

I think I'm going to read In Harmony after I finish this. It's definitely on my short list.

Warning: In Harmony takes place almost all in HS. But it didnt annoy me at all. Its told in a very unique way and I was invested in characters immediately.

I am dying here....there are so many parts I cant wait for you guys to get to.

What I really loved about this book is when Eli or T.J. played, I felt like I could hear it....it was like I was actually in New Orleans even though I have never been there.

Let's just say it's not as dramatic as I expected (aside from a couple of instances). But there's still plenty of book left.

I was crying so hard I was hiccuping. I stayed up all night to read this. All alone, in middle of night, bawling my eyes out. That quote killed me. When they gave him the keys? I am tearing up now. Uncle T.J. is one of my most beloved side characters ever. (hide spoiler)]

I finished! I'm going to spoiler my final thoughts because I don't want to give away anything, Kooloo. (view spoiler)[This book was very back and forth for me. Some things I loved. Others...not so much. I think my main problem was that I didn't enjoy the 2nd half of the book nearly as much as the first, mainly because I didn't fully connect with grown up Elliott (or Jasmine, really). I'm not sure what it was, but something just seemed to be missing. I think I needed to be shown some of what happened with both characters during those six years instead of told after the fact.

But, Leslie, I can definitely see why you loved this, and why many people loved it. As for me, I have to give it 3 stars. (hide spoiler)]
