AI in Sci-Fi:
I have noticed a common theme in recent Sci-Fi (and I know the idea goes back several decades, but now it always seems to be a theme) is AI as a real entity with feelings and personality. I think this book was probably the strongest I have seen this with the AI being treated exactly like it is human.

So far I'm really liking the different characters and their personalities. I've always thought reading sci fi with different types of alien species would be hard to get into but I think the author describes them well and that combined with their personalities makes it easy to picture.
I really like how Chambers has really given a story to each character and I feel like I can see each one of them so clearly, even the AI. I think it's interesting how there's the obvious diversity between them of being different species. But even within their own species, they're considered a bit different.

I feel like this story was written with the Characters and their growth specifically in mind. Not a bad thing at all!
