It's got all the hallmarks I've come to expect from Butler: body modification magic, sexual taboo, racial and gender dynamics explored on both the personal and societal levels. At least this time I was ready for it :) These themes come up so often, I'd love to do a general Octavia E. Butler discussion.
Seconded (especially since I can't make this meeting). Her books never fail to make me uncomfortable. (That's a good thing.)
