Heather | 8550 comments This was a great idea brought to me by Mark, subtly suggested in the thread Picture of the Day when he said he wonders how many paintings there are of the same subject.

So I'm opening a folder for this exact purpose.
Each thread can be dedicated to a certain subject and anyone can post as many paintings as you would like of that subject (please keep to the subject)

So if you have a different painting of which you have seen different versions, please go ahead and open your own thread!

I hope we have some discussion and contributions. I believe there are many paintings of the exact same subject done in different time periods, different movements, etc. Let's see what happens!

Mark André Thank you for the nod, Heather! - )

It did all start with the Susanna paintings. I was stunned to see how many different artists in the last 500? years have chosen to paint, as it were, a story. And though many, if not all, of the Renaissance artists were acutely interested in depicting biblical Art, the overall and lasting attraction of this particular story, from a painters point of view seems to be the heroine's nudity.

You're welcome, Mark.

Yes, even through the ages, nudity has been a common theme. I agree that the attraction to this subject teem to be her nudity. It's interesting how the different artists portray her body. Sometimes a 'must have' in a painting for some reason, as we have seen.
