As academics across the world prepare for the festival, here’s everything you need to know about Pi Day.
The maths event celebrates π, the term used to describe the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, commonly shortened to 3.14159.
It has been traced back to Larry Shaw, a physicist who is believed to have held the first ever Pi Day celebration in 1988.
There’s no doubt that some will be disappointed that the day has nothing to do with food.
Despite this, revellers have been known to cook up a pie or two to mark the celebration.
These are often decorated with the mathematical symbol π.
Every year, Pi Day is observed on March 14.
The event falls on this specific date because the first three significant digits of π are 3, 1 and 4.
In 2009, the US House of Representatives officially recognised the date as a national celebration.
Tech giant Google also created a special Doodle to mark the holiday in 2010.
As well as honouring pi, the celebration works to inspire further academic research and interest in maths and science.
As the exact digits of the irrational number remain unknown, the mystery of π has continued to enthral academics.
The special constant shows up across many disciplines, including chemistry, physics and maths.
Although the official premise of the day is to honour π, many believe it’s more of a celebration of academia.
For this reason, schools, universities and museums across the globe encourage festivities.

Not that I am one of them wink-wink
Happy 1st Birthday Book Break!!!
When I created this group one year ago on a whim I never expected how much this group would grow. Not only does this group have 180 members I’ve loved to get to know and hope to continue to get to know in the years to come, it also now has so many more activities then I ever expected it would have thanks to everyone’s suggestions. I’m looking forward to celebrating with everyone here and I can’t wait to introduce all of my future ideas to come.

It was a few months ago but it’s still nice to hear the birthday wishes for the group.

Nope. Sorry about not responding for a bit but it’s been getting to be quite draining coming up with such long responses I don’t usually write nearly as much per post in any of my other roleplays. I still really enjoy doing our roleplay though but it just might take me longer to respond.

Have fun back at school!"
It's been crazy! I love the classes I have so far, though.

I just think that people talk way too much about Biology and Harry Potter and it is too popular.

It’s good that you have classes that you love. That should help with the craziness.

I also prefer Chemistry over Biology. I feel like everyone loves Biology, likes Chemistry and doesn’t like Physics. I’m also not big into Harry Potter but I’m interested in continuing to read the books someday.

Same, for most things!

The three top colours I like the most are Orange(I love the colour and it doesn't get talked about much), Violet and Green.
Anyone like teal or mint? They're my two favourite colours.
Yay! I also like purple and green. I don't really like orange though.
I found it on Google Images and really liked it. That's why it's my profile picture.
I've considered changing it a couple of times but I always end up leaving it as this image. I guess I don't really know what I'd want to change it to.

Really? That never happens to me. As far as I know I always notice it though.
I have as well and I totally agree. It's worth the brain freeze.
