I'm taking the Lockwood book with me on the train ride to Citi Field on Saturday. Looks great. Pitcher and Dictator and the Tom Yawkey books are also on my TBR. The size of the Yawkey book intimidates me...over 600 pages

I found the Rapp book very interesting. Lots of new information about each player, plus about turn-of-the-century America.

Thanks for the info. I prefer Russell to Baez to Rizzo but I am going to get a copy of Tinker to Evers to Chance.

And the best player in the turn of century Cubs infield, was Harry Steinfeldt, but he`s not in the HOF because his name doesn`t rhyme anything

Exactly what I have been doing. I start it, then get a couple of smaller ones and read those.

It will be interesting how Nowlin deals with the subject of race with Yawkey. Especially since there's talk of re-naming streets. Was he a racist? Or did he just rely on the advice of cronies who were certainly racist? Or was he just a man of his times?
Nowlin has a very good reputation.
