In the end, Chastain protected the evidence he’d gathered and held it for Ballard. Why her as opposed to Olivas or someone else?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments He knew Ballard was a good cop and would continue working the case, especially if something happened to him. He hid the evidence where she would eventually find it.

I don’t think he could trust Olivas after knowing what he did to Ballard. He knew who she was, through and through. In the end, she was the only one on the force he felt he could trust.
