The whiting awards are given to young upstarters and experimenters. here is a nice short npr piece on this year's winners and what the awards do. lambda on facebook announced proudly that 7 out of the 10 are queer.

I loved Patty Yumi Cottrell's book. One of my top books of 2017.

I have never heard of these awards but, like Paul, I really loved Sorry to Disrupt the Peace. I'm off to check out the other winners now!
