OK, I'm going to try Clockwork Angel as I've been told that some that didn't like the Immortal Instruments end up liking this one.
I reread Darkfever and did a read along for the first 5 books with a group read just recently. The first 5 were originally supposed to stop there and it is actually a great place to stop. The first book has a slight cliffhanger but a good ending place all the same. All the next ones leave the worst possible cliffhangers imaginable. In fact, she almost is trying to define the word with books 2, 3, and 4. Book Five leaves almost all of it wrapped up so I didn't go on. If you are a cliffhanger hater like me and end up reading on to book 2, expect to need to read 3, 4 and 5, to get any resolution and satisfaction.
I ended up liking the series (up to there, book 5) but not enough to endure more of the cliffhangers that literally leave you hanging on the edge of a cliff, wondering what will happen to our poor protagonist. While reading with my group, I would go to the next book and read what happens and then stop at a good point... in the next book. Since I was in a group read, it was month to month and I just couldn't wait a month to find out if she... survives (of course she does), how, and in what condition though... So no more for me, and not real wanting to reread it. Definitely worth the first read.

I have Clockwork angel and I would love to do a reread on it. I liked it better than the Immortal Instruments, but I never did get the rest of the series. I must have got distracted by a shinny. LOL
I’ll be reading Darkfever. I wanted to read Clockwork Angel ever since I read the first few books of her other series. But, I’m on a new Author kick right now trying to broaden my horizons and all that. So I think I’ll save Clockwork Angel for a rainy day.
I nominated Clockwork Angel, so obviously I will be reading it. It will be Audiobook, so I will NOT be able to do Darkfever at the same time. :(

You must be either part crow or maybe valkryie.

I've read both the Clockwork and 8 books in the Fever series and really enjoyed both series! Loved that the Clockwork series had an 'ending' in the final book of the series....an ending which really suited the storyline. Karen Marie Moning has recently released her latest book in the continuing story of Dani and Ryordan. I've ordered it and will look forward to reading it in the school holidays. Even though I loved the Fever series, I much preferred Karen's stories that led up to the Fever Series. The MacKeltar men and Adam Black are fantastic characters, they do feature in some small way in the Fever series. If you get the chance try to read the Kiss of the Highlander, Dark Highlander and my fav, the Immortal Highlander....plus a few other books in between...it was a fabulous series....heroes to swoon over!
I really liked the Highlander series. If I take the first 2 books out, it might be one of my favorite time travel romances with a little druid magic mixed in. I didn't like the 2nd book and thought the 1st had very little to do with the series of druids. It did have a little of Adam Black. I even read the novella and really liked it too. My favorite was Kiss of the Highlander though.
I've started Clockwork Angel and so far so good, though I get the feeling that the characters are older than they are written. The girl and boy seem to be 12 or 13 the way it is written yet she traveled alone so more likely and adult. She looks at him with interest so he must be around the same or older, yet... everyone keeps calling him with the additive, young man, young man. Well... I don't hear people calling a 20+ year old man a young man unless they are as old as dirt and are being ageist. My 12 year old is called young lady all the time by older people. I'm ready for someone to mention an age so I can imagine better.
If your comment is saying that the first book of Infernal Devices is a cliffhanger, I'm not going to love it. I hate cliffhangers and even have a "I hate cliffhangers" shelf. If only the last has an ending then only the last might get a "loved it" from me. I consider cliffhanger series to not be series but serials, where one story goes into the next with no conclusion. And somewhat believe it a ploy to write a 900+ page book and call it a series. None of my favorite series use this cliffhanger ploy. They might have an overarc but the story is complete in each book. Fever was not a favorite, Moning's Highlanders are.

Great series The Others. I might be a Crow but not because of shinny. I love their personalities, I'm ADD so can totally relate. I know I'm not a Valkyrie (Immortals After Dark) though I love them too. I'm more like the dog companions that see a squirrel and totally forget what we were doing. :-)
So I finished Clockwork Angel and think it is a lot better than City of Bones, my review of Clockwork Angel, My review of City of Bones. Still I didn't love it but kind of liked it. The big climax ending was idiotically predictable on who was doing what and why. (view spoiler) So that brought it to 4 and the characters bickering a bit with the non-ending storylines, cliffhangers, brought it down even more. Then there is a triangle, though being that Will is an ass, I don't think there is a question.
It was a 3 for me. Still because the kids didn't irritated me so much and there is a interesting storyline going, I might read the other 2, especially since I know that it is a wrap up. Two books to get to the wrap up. (view spoiler) So many unanswered questions.

After reading Clockwork Angel’s again I did like it and found it entertaining enough to finish the book, but I did not like it enough to want to continue with the series. I think I have outgrown Cassandra Clare’s Immortal Instruments world.
Outgrown, yep that is a good description. Still I think that it does better than the City series.
Oh for sure the City was good for the time but I think with the movie and the tv show it has burt me out on it. Clockwork is better writing than the City and the story line is better too. I don't know, maybe I need time to separate myself from these books for a while to appreciate them better??
I am going Clockwork Angel on audiobook and so far I like it. Slow, but very detailed, much like all of the others. I am hoping Jem and Tessa hook up, but I read the Lady Midnight book when we did it for BOM about a year ago and I think I already know the answer to this question. The female, I forgot her name, who is a real piece of work... I want to know her angle because she is annoying!!!
I have all e-book versions . Thanks to 2 libraries and Overdrive!!!
I was able to pick up Clockwork Angel from One and The Fever Series (6 book bundle) in the other. knowing that the fever series is very cliffhanger oriented. as soon as I found the bundle I snapped it up. thankfully I have a 21 day loan for the fever books in comparison to my 14 day loan for clockwork angel.
where would I be without the library!!! my crappy library is sometimes good for something!! I'm now a member of 5 different libraries!!! so now I have a choice and if a book isn't available in one... I got to the next!

On the Fever series, I would read to book 5 and wait until you have 6, 7, 8 and 9 for the next as I hear the storyline goes to book 9 after the 5th book wrap up. It was supposed to be a 5 book series originally.
ok cool thanks. when I get there I'll be sure to get 7 8 &9 I remember the first read I had. it gave me so much anxiety and the cliffhanger made it worse. hopefully it doesn't affect me too much this time around.
I'll read Darkfever since I have that in Mt. TBR already. :) I hope I'm not too late. First few weeks of April have been so, so messed up at work. I don't know about Clockwork Angel. I would have to go find a copy, I don't have any Clare stuff atm.
Your right on time. I've joined BOM slightly after the month is over as people will see the post and come back to comment. :-) So welcome to Darkfever.
Finished darkfever... final thoughts? It was an enjoyable read. Mac is an okay main character, The last two chapters she turned into this super ass-kicking sidhe-seer and Without much practice throughout the whole book.? I find that hard to believe, but I am drawn to Barron's. He's the reason I will be continuing on to the next book.
I've finished Darkfever, in truth I finished it a while ago but have been procrastinating on leaving my thoughts. It was a good read, I found that while reading I wasn't so much interested in Mac's role or the mystery surrounding her sisters death as I was in trying to speculate on what Barron's was up to. He seems to be my favorite character so far. This book had may unanswered questions for me as well as a few character issues. I realize that this is just the first book in the series and that the characters will develop in later books. I find myself wishing that Mac's character was a little stronger (not in brute strength) or more defined. Her character was kind of all over the place. At times she was the damsel in distress but at the same time she was a headstrong go get-er/wanna-be ass-kicker. I guess I'm a little confused as to her part in these stories if she is to be the main character. But...we shall see what the future holds for our dear Mac as I do plan on reading the rest of the series. All in all I would probably read this book again and recommend it to someone new to the genre as it is an interesting and easy read.
Be prepared to read to book 5 as 2, 3, and 4 are super killer cliffhangers. She is called the Queen of Cliffhangers because of those.
I kind of liked the first book but got into a series read and read the next up to 5. I did enjoy it overall but didn't love it. I would never reread this though I know so many love it and do. I think it was from the 1st book on and I had the same issues as you with Mac kind of being all over the place.
During the series read along, each month after finishing the current book, I would go the the next and read to the conclusion of the cliffhanger and find a good resting place to wait for the next month. I usually would be 10-20% in and think, "couldn't she just have stopped here instead?"
Some cliffhangers are, we didn't get the main mystery solved at all, or we are not sure where our characters stand with one another, these are not those cliffhangers. These are she is left hanging on the edge of a cliff for dear life and we don't know how she is going to get out of it. Some of the worst cliffhangers I've read and was impossible for me not to read on.
The 5th book wraps it up pretty nicely though there are lines that could be work upon more. I guess she decided to do that and I hear that the next books are all cliffhangers too up to the 9th which again wraps up the new lines. I think of these as serials and not series. Wish we would define them as such but I guess that would lead to "what is a cliffhanger?" which in itself can be an argument. :-)

Am I the only one reading Clockwork Angel? I hate when authors ride the same idea for ever (JK Rowling anyone), but Cassandra Clare is a great writer! I loved the TMI series, though I think it should have stopped at three. This series is just as good and I cannot wait to continue the newer series with the Blackthorns/Carstairs!
I already ordered Clockwork Prince and I am running with that! No clue what May will be for BOM, but I need to continue!

A couple of us commented and read Clockwork Angel. Here is from post #16
I finished Clockwork Angel and think it is a lot better than City of Bones, my review of Clockwork Angel, My review of City of Bones. Still I didn't love it but kind of liked it.
I almost did not read it because of how much I disliked City of Bones but I did end up liking it and have the next on my pile to read.

I loved the first three TMI books. I read City of Bones in a day. The last three I could have lived without, but the entire entangling of all of the series within the same story just makes me want to read more and I don't know why!!!
I like this series better. Less bickering and name calling between the character and more genuine help and interaction. Still it reads YA and much the same in some ways, I just like the characters so much more. I do have the next ready to go so maybe a buddy read together when you are ready?
