What a lovely review. It's made me want to read it.
Loved this too! I live 3 hours from that library and I still haven't made it there even though I read that book years ago. But I plan to make it there soon!
This book reminded me of our orange tabby cat we had while growing up. He was a mean cat outside the house. An effective guard cat. But inside he was our cat. He purred a lot like Dewey, loved on people like Dewey. I read many books with that cat lying on my stomach while I laid in bed and read. Thanks for the memories Tessa.

I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it's about a library cat and how he saved a city. But it's also about a very strong woman. This book is about Vicki Myron.
Vicki grew up in small town Iowa; dealt with an alcoholic husband, divorce, single parenthood, going back to school to better herself, dealing with years of medical issues, the death of her beloved mother..........all while serving the small town of Spencer, Iowa and serving her sweet buddy Dewey.
I also love the story of the small town and the state of Iowa....I am from the small farm town so it brought back many memories.
To me, Dewey was just an extra special treat in this lovely story.
