The Crash discussion

Rey flopped down by the fresh water spring and cupping her hands brought some water to her mouth. She was parched and had only managed to get here because of the trees surrounding the spring, she had managed to hobble over by holding them for support.

Lorcan was sitting in a tree with his head in his hands. Looking down, he saw another person "Hey!" he called down cautiously. He slowly climbed down the tree.

Rey jumped in surprise and then cried out when she remembered her leg. "Uh, hi," she said.

"Sorry. I just have not seen anyone after I got out of the plane" he winced. Bending down to the water, he scooped some with his hands, bringing it to his mouth.

Rey leaned back slightly, "It's ok," she said. "I have seen a few people but I haven't talked to them, my name is Rey by the way. What about your?"

"Lorcan" he said, letting out a breath he didnt know he was holding in. Geez, what did he think she was, a monster? "Did you know anyone on the plane?" he asked

"Not really," she answered. "I don't really like talking to people that much, I am more of an introvert."

"Oh. I'm an ambivert and I didnt know anyone either." he shrugged. "I guess its better that way, right?" he said with a laugh.

"Yeah, probably," she said. "Although a lot of people had friends there, and I really feel sorry for them. I mean, I don't have any friends but I could imagine how it would feel."

"Yeah, me too. When did you get off the plane?" he asked curiously. Lorcan had been sitting in that particular tree for a few hours now, and had no sense of time.

"When everyone else was already out," she answered. "I guess they just didn't see me, a different girl who was dead had landed on me, so..."

"That's awful...I was one of the first people out and I ran here." He shuddered, imagining a dead person on top of him.

"Yeah," she said, staring at the water. "It was pretty bad, but hey, I got out of the plane so I am fine and good to go, apart from the fact that I have a piece of metal in my foot."

“Ah, that’s pretty bad. I just have this gash in my leg, and well as a few smaller things on my arms” Lorcan admitted, looking up at the sky,

"Uhuh," she said, stretching out her leg in front of her. The metal piece was still in there but it didn't hurt as much, as long as she didn't move it.

“Have you tried taking it out?” He asked her curiously. Maybe she could get it out with his help. Or by herself, she seemed pretty capable.

Rey looked at it and said, "No, I probably could have but...well, I don't want to do anything bad and then end up without a foot."

Evangeline sighed in relief when she saw a freshwater spring. She was thirsty! Suddenly, she heard voices and could make out two figures in the distance. She didn't know if it was good or bad, they could easily be murderers roaming around this forest. Her headache worsened; she had been wandering for hours since she left that crashed plane. Evangeline hoped that she would find a shelter soon, it was getting dark. Maybe they would become friends and help she thought to herself.

Rey looked up to see a girl coming, she gave a small startled gasp but then calmed down quickly. It was just another girl from the wreck.

Lorcan looked surprised before calming down. “Oh, hello, welcome to our little circle of nobodies” he said. “I’m Lorcan, this is Rey” he said, pointing. “Who are you?”

Rey looked at the girl, waiting for an answer.

Evangeline took another deep breath. "My name is Evangeline, but you can call me Eve!" she replied. She looked back and gasped. Does Rey have a... a piece of metal in her foot? She pointed at it. "Want any help?" she asked.

Rey stretched out her foot and winced, "Probably," she answered.

Evangeline ran over to Rey, wincing as she examined the wound. "This is going to hurt," she warned to her, then grasped the metal piece as tight as she could. She gulped, then pulled it out; keeping the piece of metal straight. Evangeline took a breath of relief, then made a makeshift gauze and tied it securely to stop the blood flow.

Lorcan watched the girls work silently, wincing as Evangeline pulled the metal out of Rey's leg.

Evangeline then turned to the boy, Lorcan. "Do you need help too?" she asked. She had noticed the nasty gash on his leg and a bloody arm.

"Me? Nah, I'm fine." he said to her. He had made a makeshift bandage and it was holding pretty well.

She suddenly noticed the water and ducked down and took and a big gulp. That was good! She turned to Lorcan again. "Do you want to build a shelter? It's getting late!"

"Yeah, I was sitting up in the tree but I dont think it did me much good" he said with a laugh. "Nearby here would be a good place" he pointed out.

She grinned. "We'll make something much more comfortable than that, I promise," she said. They needed leaves, string and branches, Evangeline reminded herself. "Who's coming?"

Rey had managed not to make a noise throughout the whole metal pulling out thing, but now it really hurt. She groaned.

“You okay?” He asked. He knew he couldnt do too much for her, but he was willing to try. “And I’m coming” He added

She managed to stand up, sweat glistening brightly on her face, "Where are we going again?" she asked through gritted teeth. "I wasn't listening to what you guys were saying."

“I would sit down if I were you, and we were going to try to build a shelter” Lorcan said to her, with a raised eyebrow.

She sighed, "I really don't want to, but all right," she sat down carefully.

Evangeline strolled back as Lorcan helped Rey; sitting down. She waved to them. "Got the materials!" she called out, pointed to all the branches in her hands. "Let's set it up!"

“Got you” He said, standing up and grabbing a few of the branches.

She took out her hand band; letting out her hair in the process. Evangeline then used it to tie up the branches and kept on adding more. She looked at Lorcan and said, "You know how to do this, right?"

Rey looked at him, "You had better!"

“Yeah, of course” he said, weaving the bendier branches in between the thicker ones to hell them stay.

She nodded, "Good," she said softly.

After a while, they had crafted a triguglar/boxish tent and Lorcan sat back, contented for now.

"Good job!" she said to her friends. "I'm going to get water and build a fire; we are lucky it isn't snowing!". Evangeline looked at them. "Do you have a flask I can borrow to contain the water? And do you think the water is safe to drink?"

Rey felt a lot better now, she grabbed a strong and long stick and hauled herself to her feet and hobbled over to take a look at the shelter.

“I drank it earlier, it’s fine. And no, I don’t have a flask” Lorcan said quietly. “Need any help Rey?” She asked

Rey turned to her and smiled, "No," she said, "I'm fine...for now."

"Ok." She ran off into the woods to collect more wood. She came back with her arms full of sticks, again. Evangeline then built a little pile of powdered wood to catch on fire.

Rey sat down gently again and watched the fire start up.
