I can't remember exactly, but wasn't the fact she was seeing Gilbert only discovered later? In this case, Nelson was the most convenient suspect for the police.
He busted into the house the next day! I never could quite figure out who fingered Nelson given the circumstances.
That's something I'm asking too. Who gave Nelson's name to the police? Maybe Nelson was just the last of the two men to see her and Walcott saw him as an easy scapegoat?
Ditto, here. How did the police not figure out this was a wonky wheel of a situation? I suppose because Malloy wasn't there at first.
I just assumed the original investigator just found out about Nelson first and went with it. Easy Peasy case closed.
