Bryar The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan takes readers through an exciting journey about the Greek god Apollo losing his immortality. Apollo must learn to work with mortals at camp half blood to find out why he lost his immortality before he is stuck being a mortal for the rest of his life. The two literary devices used are humor and irony. Humor is used when Apollo meets a young girl that he must help her on her quest in order to become immortal again and she makes fun of Apollo throughout. Irony is used because Apollo finally learns to trust somebody and that person ends up betraying him. The first theme Rick Riordan uses is everybody is created equal because the god Apollo throughout the story talks about how he is amazing and should not be stuck with mortals although he is now a mortal and is just as good as all the others. The other theme in the story is never give up because there are many things that impact Apollo when he is trying to achieve his goal but he does not let these conflicts stop him. Readers that enjoy adventure type books will appreciate this book. The story is action packed and exciting until the end. This book deserves a four out of five because at the beginning it is a little slow, but after that it becomes exciting and keeps the reader wanting to know what happens next.

David Brinton This is a very bad book for teens or pre-teens because it contains gratuitous promotion of homosexuality that lends nothing to the story while perverting the minds of children and leaving them open to being molested by pedophiles.
