Grace Martensen Emma is living the life she has always dreamed of living, but she is not living it as herself. Sara Shepard’s thrilling novel, Hide and Seek, is just one of many books part of “The Lying Game” series. Emma lives her life bouncing from one foster family to another. Emma dreams of living her life with a rich family. She soon finds out that she has a twin sister, Sutton, that lives her dream life. They meet in person, but the relationship does not last long. Emma’s twin sister Sutton gets murdered, and Emma is forced to live as her sister Sutton without anyone knowing Sutton is dead. A theme in the book is one must be brave in a tough situation, Emma must stay brave while overcoming obstacles while looking for her sister’s killer. Another theme is power being in the wrong hands can be dangerous, Emma finds out that all of Sutton’s friends are suspects, and they all play a dangerous roll with their popularity. A literary device is imagery, because Emma always pictures her twin sister and the life she lived before Emma came. Another literary device is humor, because even though Emma is in a tough situation she still goes out with Sutton’s friends and laughs. The book really grabs the reader’s attentions and runs with it. There is always something going on in the book that keeps the reader’s on the edge of their seat. This book receives a five star rating due to the suspense that is constantly going on throughout the book.

Regan Michael The review was written with a strong passion in the book. The review gave very good details about the plot and allowed the reader to imagine what is going on in the book. One thing the review could have done was cut down on the plot and the writer could have been less wordy.
