Has anyone read this touching WWII story? It's from a different side of the war from usual and was extremely intense.

It's about a girl named Josie who lives in Louisiana in the 50's. Her mother works in a brothel, and Josie lives apart from her above a bookstore with her friend Patrick. Then, MURDER. It's amazing!
