I was able to watch the dress rehearsal for Theatre Calgary's upcoming musical of The Secret Garden last night, and it did not disappoint! We start previews this evening and it's going to be a beautiful show so don't miss it!
The novel, The Secret Garden, was originally published in 1911. There are certainly words and phrases that were used then that either are not today, or are used very differently. Which ones stood out for you, and why?
When Mary meets Dickon and later explains the encounter to Martha, it is clear she has a bit of a "crush" on him. She is also able to speak to Martha in a better tempered way than others. The author, Frances Hodgson Burnett, ensures that readers don't hate Mr. Craven. He is clearly absent, but still has a kindness. What were your first impressions of Mr. Craven?
