Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 424 comments Hello and welcome to Lizziefaye's Comfy Corner. I decided to start this group to chat about all of the feel-good books that I enjoy reading. Please introduce yourself to the rest of the group. I hope you will have a comfy time here.

Bridget's Quiet Corner (chaptersandscreens) Welp, um, let's see... I'm Bridget. I'm a mother of two (21 & 15 as of this post) I read a lot of YA but gradually trying to spread my wings back into other genres that I read before YA took over my life. I'm also finding myself finally enjoying YA romance, mostly because it's generally really simple and clean most of the time. Hoping to graduate back into adult romance again (clean). I also like many cozies but I think my favorite is food based it seems. And I'm also kind of addicted to HGTV especially Fixer Upper, Property Brothers & my Million Dollar Dream Home (think I've got that right, I've only watched about 5 episodes or so thus far, but I so love the host!). Guess I'll hush now. :-)

Jennifer | 9 comments Hi! I’m Jennifer. I’m married and we have three children (20, almost 15 and almost 10). When I’m not working or chauffeuring kids around, I’m usually reading. I love historical fiction, cozy mysteries, YA, thrillers and adult contemporary. I even read a little fantasy now and then. I’ve really enjoyed middle grade here lately as I’ve been reading some to help get my youngest into more diverse books. As you can tell, I’m a pretty diverse reader.

Books In Every Room | 18 comments Hi everybody!
I’m Colleen, and I have loved reading since the day I learned how! My favorite things to read are cozy mysteries, historical fiction, and classics. I love history so I’ll read anything from middle grade to romance that features time traveling to the past. My favorite show is Timeless where I can see the Hindenburg, the Salem witch trials, the space race, etc.
I had been in a big reading slump, and I had an accident in late 2016 that kept me out of work for months. I kept a reading journal in 2017, and just got those books entered into goodreads. It was Jane Austen that got me back to reading. I read her and a lot of Austen related fan fiction last year.
I’m looking forward to reading some fun and relaxing things with all of you.

Nan | 1 comments Hello Everyone! Thank you, Elizabeth, for creating this group! My name is Nan. My husband and I are empty nesters except for our beloved Mini Schnauzer, Tug. I have always loved books and recently have really picked up the pace in my reading. Even though I love everything about actual books...their smell, their heft, the visual art a book is...these days I mostly read on my Kindle. As much as possible, I borrow Kindle books from my local library. I happily read all ages but mostly adult and middle grade books. I love historical novels. I particularly like dark, atmospheric, gothic novels like those written by Kate Morton and the Bronte sisters. This year I am making a point to read some classics and to read diversely. Traditionally, I have always read contemporary fiction, historical fiction, mysteries and some crime novels. Lately, however, I have surprised myself by dipping into the fantasy, sci-fi and dystopian genres and enjoying those as well. I am just recently aware of the Cozy Mystery and Graphic genres (perhaps my nose was too buried in my books or I was under a rock!) and so I am picking my way through a cozy series and look forward to reading a graphic novel I have purchased. Yep, I love good books...about this, I cannot lie. I really look forward to learning more about you and your recommendations!

Janice Richardson | 2 comments Hi all! My name is Janice, I am a retired funeral director and a Canadian Non-fiction and mysteries are my favourite reads. As an author of a cozy series, one of favourite things to do is to review new books.

message 7: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 6 comments Hi, my name is Lisa. I’m a mother of 3 (20,16 and 11). I’ve always been a reader thanks to my mother who brought us to the library and shared her love of reading with us. I work full time and try to squeeze as much reading time into work and family life as I can. After a particularly stressful week I decided to read only books that make me feel good (old favorites, long series that I love and slowly working my way through etc) Right now I am re reading Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati. It is a historical romance and probably my favorite book of all time. I never completed the final book in the series so I plan on doing that soon. I hope this group gives me lots of feel good book recommendations.

Jennifer White (jwhitern) Hello! My name is Jennifer. I live in Minnesota, less than a week ago we had a blizzard, this past weekend it was 70! Go figure! I have 3 children-my stepson is 36, my son is 28 and my daughter is 19. I am a nurse by profession. I have always loved to read. I will read just about anything except for romance. I don't mind if a book has a romance in it but if that is what the entire book is about then I can't do it. My favorite authors are Stephen King, Wally Lamb and Frank McCourt. I also enjoy crocheting and scrapbooking.

message 13: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) Hello! My name is Linda. I live in Indiana. I have one four legged Male Child whose name is Buttercup. He is a 9 Month Old Kitty who seems to get into all sorts of kitty mischief's at all hours of the day and night. He loves to snuggle on my lap and when I go to bed. He is my snuggler. A Friend of mine gave me one of their Kitties who was born shortly before I got him. This was back in October after I lost my 14 year old Cat named Railroad who I rescued long time ago and he was less than a year old when he decided to follow me home one summer early morning. His heart finally gave out and he passed away on my Dad's Birthday. To this day I still miss him a great deal. I dearly love Buttercup though and he is the love of my life.

My favorite Genre's to read are: Science Fiction - Adventure - Middle Grade - Fantasy - Children's Books.

My Other Hobbies are: Crocheting - Needlepoint - Counted Cross Stitch - Knitting - Embroidery - Stamped Cross Stitch - Quilting.

I have lots of Health Problems and so the only Exercise that I can do is Walk. I have a Bone Condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type One which means that my bones are very easily breakable if I make the wrong move. I can walk and I am not in a wheelchair. I am so very Bless and so very Thankful that I can still walk without breaking my bones in my legs. I am one in 99 that can walk without breaking my bones in my legs. I am under a Research Bone Specialist who is taking care of me and I go see him once a year. He studies the Diseases of the Bones and all of the Medicine - New and Old both - he does Research and he is also a Author who writes Articles for Medical Journals and Etc. He is so good.

I read mostly in the mornings and sometimes at Night. It depends on how tired I am and what is going on.

I mostly read sitting in my Lazy Boy Chair drinking my Coffee while Reading and covering up with my Fleece Blanket in the mornings. That is my favorite time to read. I read for about 2 hours every morning. This is my relaxation period for me.

message 14: by Tim (new)

Tim Smith | 1 comments Hi, I'm Tim and live in Rockford, Illinois. I tell people that I'm retired due to health problems (sounds better than disability). Since I have so much time on my hands, I tend to read since daytime television gets old pretty quick. I don't watch much television in the evenings anymore because they don't make them like they used to (too many realty shows anymore).

I read mainly mysteries and thrillers, but I will occasionally read some science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction or a classic.

I also collect and listen to music (records, cassettes and compact discs) for my other big hobby.

message 15: by Laura (new)

Laura Hi! I'm Laura. Right now, I live in Maryland but we will be moving this summer. I have 2 kids (24 and 17) both are graduating this year. The oldest from Ohio State and the youngest from high school. I'm a little nervous about becoming an empty nester but then I guess that means more time to read!

I love to read everything. My favorite genres are mysteries, historical fiction, and fantasy. But I will pretty much read whatever is in front of me. I also enjoy listening to audiobooks as well. My other hobbies are cross stitching, crocheting, and lots of other crafts.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and joining in all of the challenges!

Amanda Lavelle | 3 comments Hello there, I'm Amanda, i'm 38 at the end of this month, and live in a town called Heanor in Derbyshire (uk). I'm married to Adam and we have 2 wonderful little boys- Finlay who will be 6 in June and Hugo who is 2 1/2yrs. They were 8 and 9 weeks premature and Finlay is diagnosed Autistic. Hugo has just been referred as there are concerns he may also be autistic. I've been a veterinary nurse for 15 years and we have Bertie the Labrador and Humphrey the cat. I read quite widely but as I'm often reading for escapism or comfort, I do tend to gravitate towards the cozy side of things such as mysteries. I prefer to read printed books but given time restraints- I mostly read a e-books and have the audio going as well so I can listen when walking to work for example. Looking forward to some lovely friendly and cozy chats xx

Hi Zana! Welcome to my little cozy group. We haven't been doing too much on here lately, but I plan to introduce a new readalong or challenge after New Year's. I'm currently trying to catch up with a couple of series that I introduced as readalongs previously. Feel free to scroll through the books and series that we have already read and comment about any that you've read.
Who are some of your favorite authors and what are some of your favorite books and/or series?

message 24: by Zana (new)

Zana Zabel | 2 comments Thanks Elizabeth! The readalong or challenge sounds like fun.

Jennifer Weiner is one of my favorite authors. I read a lot of what I guess could be classified as "chick lit" or beach reads. I haven't had a lot of time to read lately, but I have a two week vacation planned in December so I'm hoping to find some interesting, lighthearted books to relax with during that time.

This time of year my guilty pleasure is watching Hallmark Christmas movies, so I think it would be fun to read some of the books they're based on or even better, some that haven't made it to the screen yet. (They don't necessarily have to be Hallmarks...just books that evoke that sort of cozy feeling.)

I'm going to peruse the list of books you've already discussed here right now. :)

ambiekraftsreads | 15 comments Hey y'all! I'm Amber or ambie as I go by on the internets. You can find me over on my YouTube channel https://youtube.com/c/ambiekraftsreads

What do I like to read? Romance, women fiction, middle grade, cozy mysteries, a bit of amish (though not in years), and occasionally historical fiction.

I'm also big into crafts. My most favorite is crochet. My Nana taught me when I was 12. Crocheting connects me to my loved ones who did it but have now passed on.
Another big one for me is paper crafting. I like to make cards, bookmarks, a bit of planning, and just whatever. Me and my sister just got a Cricut for this past Christmas. So excited to do all the things!!
I have done sewing, beads/jewelry, and mixed media/art journaling in years past. I'd love to start doing some of these again. I actually got a whole beading kit for Christmas. So I'll jumping back into that first.

I also like to cook, pasta and comfort foods are my favs, watch tv and movies, and listen to music. My fandoms are anything Disney, Stranger Things, Gilmore Girls, and Golden Girls. I also love all things 80's, tv, music, movies. Big into 90's tv shows too.

Well that was more than you wanted to know, ain't it? lol I'm done now so I'll shut up and go.
Happy Reading and God Bless

I've never heard of the "Uplit" list. What is it?
What kind of books do you like to read genre wise?
Love to watch scary movies.

I got the first three from the library. I'm starting Eleanor Elephant is Completely Fine.
I don't know what genre I like now. I read a lot of Stephen King when I was younger.

Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to the group. I'm sorry to be so long in responding. I just noticed your message. I'll have to check out that Uplit list that you mentioned. Based on how you described it, I don't think I would have put Eleanor Oliphant on that list, but it's a pretty good book that's definitely work checking out.

Hi Libby! Welcome to the group. How fun to have a whole room for your books. I have books all over the house.
I'm reading the latest Joanne Fluke right now. I don't enjoy the later ones as much as the earlier ones, but I suppose I'll keep on reading them as long as she keeps writing them.
