Issac Solis A night divided

Is a book about a family that gets broken up, one night the father of the family thinks and says they should move to west germany because the government they have in the east is not a good one and he also has a bad feeling of something but he doesn't know what. The mother doesn't want to leave eastern Berlin because she doesn't think that there is a need to leave/ also she has a bad feeling of something that doesn't want her to leave. But her husband and her agree for him to go across the other side of the western Berlin to look for a job and a house to stay in if they move, he also took with him his middle child Dominic to help him out. They end up leaving that night they both say bye to there family and they leave, the following morning there is a wall build that separates eastern and western Berlin also separating there family. Later on the dad sees his daughter Gerta and tries to give her signs on what to do so they can be together again but it takes her awhile to realize what her dad is trying to tell her. She ends up realizing on what her dad is saying to her and she builds a tunnel where no one goes anymore (abandon house) and claims to the city that she is making a garden so she can get permission to get in and out without getting shot or go to jail. She ends up finishing the tunnel but she didn't know that her dad was also digging a tunnel as well so they reach each other at a point and they are united again as a family.

I think the biggest theme of this book ( A night divided ) is Hope like don't give up on your hopes no matter how bad the situation is. They didn't see each other for about 4 years just imagine not seeing your mom or dad or siblings for four years they keeped hope that's why at the end everything turned out ok. They also couldn't go next to the wall that separates the eastern and western side or else the guards would shoot them with no mercy. They could only say “hi’’ or see each other from a distance every once and awhile. That's why I think hope is the biggest and main theme of this book.
