I reached 50% of
. Very disturbing but fascinating story. Not sure why it's marketed as a thriller - pure contemporary so far.@Ann A thanks! I'm surprised how good it went myself
Reached 2/3 of the book (
) Apparently, it's a nanny on the bookcover, and not the oldest child as I thought previously.
Also, found two links connected to the story:

I just finished my first book: Frankenstein in Baghdad! (I read all but about 25 pages today.)I've also knocked out a few essays in The Good Immigrant, and I've listened to about 90 minutes of News of the World
Checking in.... I fell asleep for a while, but did get 30 pages done of Millard Salter's Last Day... I like the book. Now that the tablet is charged I can work on getting more of Simple Truth read.
This hour I'm doing try a chapter thing, to decide what to read next. I'm starting with
which I only got a couple of days ago
I've read a first chapter and only on the page 10 it dawned on me that the main character is not a girl. Now I'm trying
. I've started it some time ago but didn't read much
Closing survey1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
Hour 4 was challenging - I was waiting for the sprint thread that wasn't unlocked in time. Also hours 23-24 - they flew too fast!
2. Tell us ALLLLL the books you read!
- finished
- also finished!
- audiobook, listened to the good chunk of it
- read a chapter
- read a chapter
- read a chapter (sounds like my next read!)
- read a chapter3. Which books would you recommend to other Read-a-thoners?
I would recommend something light to start (comic? children's book?) and an audiobook (nonfiction on the subject you're interested in) to take a turn with your main read
4. What’s a really rad thing we could do during the next Read-a-thon that would make you smile?
what is "rad"?
5. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again?
I loved this one, would love to participate again
Would you be interested in volunteering to help organize and prep?
no chance
Opening Survey.
Location. I am in South Texas, US
Looking Forward, I am looking forward to reading. Summer by Edith Wharton
Snacking. I am looking forward to weak sweet iced tea flavored with lime wedges. If I want to sipping for most of 24 hours it must be weak.
Something about me. I am housesitting. The old gray tabby tomcat is sleeping near my feet. We are great companions he and I.
Number of Readathons, This is my first. A GR friend Beth suggested this Readathon. Am enjoying it :-)

Opening survey
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Portugal
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Just hoping to finish the ones I'm reading now, Macaber Carnaval and The Alienist.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
No snacks, but a really big lunch (will be going out).
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm a book and a cat lover.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?
Well I'm having quite a busy day so it won't be a regular readathon for me. I'll just try and squeeze in as many hours of reading as I can.
So far not even 1 hour of reading done + 45 minutes of social media.... Woke up early but just couldn't stay awake lol
Good luck everybody!

Ah, nice! I used to follow the series
Why didn't I ever hear about this - it sounds great fun. I was alerted thanks to a notification on my Home page about one of Lamilla's postings. Too late this time round, but I'll try to give it a go next time.
And well done everyone for your reading efforts.
And btw I'm currently reading The Muse and The Music Shop - one upstairs and one downstairs, and Witch Hunt (Syd Moore version) in my bag for train journeys.

👍👍 you're welcome! 😊
I was hoping to get through Book1 and deep into Book2 of Utopia
I thought I could do it as are-read. I read it way back in college. But I have expanded as a person since then--by decades--so I am almost doing a first read.
I will continue reading past Readathon.

With only a couple of days left, time to think of the TBRLast time having a comic book or short book helped me a lot. Maybe it's time to get to all these manga I have but never quite found time to look through
What are your TBRs, guys? Or do you read spontaneously?
