One Point Tasks


1.1 National Blood Pressure Month
Doctors like it when their patients have their blood pressure at 120/80.
Read a book with 2 of the following numbers in their page count: (1,2,0,8,0)
ex. 250, 185, 400, etc....

1.2 (Diana S task) Pick A Genre
Read a book with Adventure listed in its main page genre.

1.3 National Photograph Month
Read a book who has a character that is a photographer or there are photographs (at less 2) in the text of the book (cover or inter-sleeve do not count).

1.4 (Linda C task) Remembrances: Mother's Day
Read a book with an WOMAN & CHILD on the cover (show cover).

1.5 National Hamburger Month
Read a book set in the 1950's or 1960's (list year).

1.6 Older Americans Month
Read a book with a MC that is 65 years or older (list age).

1.7 (Bethany's task) Wear Red for Ed
Teachers in my state are rallying for respect. To support them, read a book with a red cover.

2.1 Surprise Me
Read two books

2.2 (Sam F's task) The Amazing Race
Read two books

1. Capture the Flag
Read a book set in the Australia (must be at less set 50% in chosen country) -or- MC is Australian.

2. Detour
To reach your detour complete one of the following tasks.

a. Australia is home of the unusual egg-laying mammals, the duck-billed Platypus and Echidna.
Read a book with a character whose human but can change to something else. (shapeshifter)

b. This country also has the greatest number of reptiles of any other country with 755 species.
Read a book with a reptile on the cover -OR- read a book with double numbers in the page counts. ex: 335 pp, 400 pp, 288 pp, (202 pp will not count).

c. Some of the most venomous snakes in the world live in Australia ..... liked the Common Death Adder, Mainland Tiger Snake, or Small-eyed Snake.
Read a book with the word "Death" in the title. -OR- with a picture of a tiger (show cover) -OR- with a dominant eye on the cover (show cover)

d. And let's not forget the unusual birds like the 2nd largest living Emu and the laughing Kookaburra that inspired a song.
Read a book that's the 2nd in the series. -OR- a book with humor/humorous in the main page genre.
2.3 (Linda C's task) Space Day and Star Wars Day (May 4)
Read Two Books

1. Read a book set in Space (at least 50%) OR about space in some way (MC is astronaut would count, MC is pilot would not) – tell us the connection if title doesn't make it obvious

2. Read a book having author initials (first and last name) in STAR WARS DAY

The Tony Award nominees were announced this past week and I'm excited to see who wins. I love musical theater. This task is based on that love ...

1. My favorite musical is The Fantasticks
Read a book by an author whose first AND last initials are in FANTASTICKS

2. Skylight Music Theatre in Milwaukee recently announced the 2018-2019 season line-up:
Pippin
Hairspray
Five Guys Named Moe
Things That Go Ding!
Carmina Burana
Kiss Me Kate

Pick one of these plays and read a book that correlates somehow. Specify the play and how your book fits.
For example: Pippin is about a prince ... so you might read a book that features a prince.
Hairspray is about teenagers in Baltimore ... so you might read a book set in Baltimore or a YA book.

2.5 (Bethany's task) Honeymoon time!
Read Two Books
My new hubby and I are planning our honeymoon! So read two books inspired by our trip.

1. Read a book set in Japan, our honeymoon destination.

2. We're going in the off-season (December).
Read a book set mostly (at least 60%) in the off-season (fall or winter).

Three Point Task

3.1 (Linda C's task) Kentucky Derby (May 5)
Read Three Books

1. 5/5/18 is the 144th running of the Derby and there are 20 horses entered
Read a book which has a publication year or page numbers that use these numbers – 5,5,1,8,1,4,4,2,0
(only those numbers can be used – 2011 works, 2001 does not)

2. Ladies wear elaborate hats
Read a book with a hat on the cover – any kind will work (show cover)

3. Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY is the location
Read a book set in Kentucky (over 50%) or where the first letter of each word in the title can be found in CHURCHILL DOWNS (title must be 2 or more words)


Five Point Task

5.1 What's growing in your garden?
Read five books

The month of May is also Gifts of the Garden Month & National Salad Month
For the month spell-out the word: GIFTS or SALAD.

For example: spell-out: SALAD
