That first image of Mulberry Street is amazing! So many people - can you imagine how it must have smelled on a hot day!
I was stunned to find that pic. The smell would be bad on any day with that many people and no regular street cleaning.
I know - rotting vegetables, horse manure, unwashed people and other stuff we don't want to think about.......

And I'm always amazed at how much walking the characters do in this series (in the Sebastian St Cyr books too, for that matter). They're all over the city!
