Posting FormatBook (link to actual book edition, please)
Date Read
# of pages for your version. If you read the audiobook, you will use the page count for the default version on GRs. This is the first version that comes up when you look up the book.
BOM / BRs
Please post a link to your first discussion post so I can add it to the sheet.
Spells
Titles, series names, authors (first or last names), main or secondary characters (first or last names, and also nicknames). You may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, the, etc.)
For the letters X, Y and V, you can also use translators names and or audion narrator names, providing the edition you are reading allows for it.
Meaning, you'll have to read the translated version to use translator's name or listening to the audio version to use the narrator's name.
Classes
Please list how it fits / class you read it for.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stoneread: technically on the evening of May 11th my time but it was after the official start of the challenge
320 pages
BR: here is my first major comment but I'm basically all over the thread lol
Spells: J, R, or ...does the title go under H for HP for S for SS? and then i think we all know the relevant names
The Night Parade by Kathryn Tanquaryread: May 12
320 pages
Spells: we can use it for N, K, or T. also the main character's name name is Saki Yamamoto so we could use it for S or Y, which would be good since that's not a common letter.
Classes: i don't think it really fits any except maybe history of magic depending on what we end up doing with that maybe
Eight Days of Luke by Diana Wynne Jones5/13/18
226 pages
[word count here since I'm apparently only reading children's books this month lol]
Spells: We've got E for the title and D or W for the author [or possibly J? Not sure how we count the two last names thing]. For character we've got Luke, David, and Astrid mainly so also works for L and A
Classes: it has fire on the cover so if we are using fire to defeat a vampire or something, or transforming something into fire [ie the fire into a snake example from the books]
The Girl Who Twisted Fate's Arm by George Saoulidis5/13/18
192 pages [per Amazon. GR doesn't seem to have a page count]
Spells: G and S for title/author. Characters are aura, orosa, viko, antioche, bremusa, meloussa so that adds A B M O and V
Classes: has a gun on the cover so could work with a zombie book for one of our DADA pairs
The Gorgon Bride by Galen Surlak-Ramsey5/14/18
268 pages
Spells: G, S, and R for title/author. Characters are alex weiss, euryale, jessica, and most of the greek gods but mainly athena/aphrodite/ares aka all the ones with the same letter. So that adds A, E, J, and W.
Classes: could be used for an ARC bc it's not published til July but I think we should use the gorgon aspect for our DADA class and someone could read a book with a mirror/shield/something on the cover. Or possibly even a case could be made for using CoS because (view spoiler)
Doctor by Andrew BombackCompleted 5/13/18
176 pages
Spells: D, A, B for author. This is non-fiction, so not sure how "characters" work, but his wife's name is Xenia and is pretty much the other "main character" besides the author, so that could count for an X, if non-fiction has characters.
Classes:
Divination - This is an ARC, book release date is September 20th, 2018
My review is on Goodreads, Netgalley and my blog.
*still working on getting caught up in understanding the classes

Spells: J, R, C, or H depending on if we count HP or CoS for the title, then a ton of character names but we know those
Classes: could possibly be used with gorgon's bride for DADA since it deals with how to not be petrified. also has snakes / phoenix / sword on the cover so snakes/phoenix could be used for care of magical creatures and sword possibly to defend against some other creature for DADA

first comment on the BR can be found here
spells: A, B, and K for title/author. characters are athena, apollo, hermes, aphrodite, hera, poseidon, cassandra, odysseus, henry, and andie for the main ones so that adds C, H, O, and P since most of those all start with A lol
classes: cassandra has visions of the future so could possibly be used for divination? also feather on the cover so we could transfigure something into a feather.
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire5/18/18

first comment on the BR can be found here
spells: E, S, and M for the titles/author. characters are eleanor, nancy, sumi, kade, jack & jill, and christopher for the main ones so add on N, K, J, and C
classes: maybe banishing charm since they are all going through doorways to different worlds? idk what we would pair it with though. or we could use it for one of the arithmancy levels.
Runelight by Joanne Harris5/18/18

spells: H, J, and R for title/author. there are SO MANY CHARACTERS in this: bragi, njord, tyr, sif, thor, odin, perth, ethel parsons, frigga, freya, frey, sigyn, loki, maddy smith, maggie rede, adam goodwin, nan fey, mandy, hughie, idun, skadi, angrboda, jolly, heimdall, mimir ...and i still feel like i'm forgetting a few but anyway so that adds: A B E F G I L M N O P S T ...basically we can use this book for anything lol
classes: has a prophecy in it so possibly divination or also arithmancy if we need to. could also use for some kind of dark/light pairing for DADA?
