Loosed in Translation discussion

I was on the trail of Onegin and found this link to an annual prize for books translated from Russian to English. There is a long ‘long list' with lots of reading ideas. I’ve read three of them (Happy Moscow, Pushkin Hills, and An Armenian Sketchbook) which were all very good, so the rest of them may be excellent as well (the list includes Maidenhair, which I haven’t gotten to yet; the winner was Tsvetaeva’s Phaedre, translated by Angela Livingstone).

This was an excellent read. Thanks for the tip, Caroline. I actually think this one could also be added to the thread about translators as protagonists, although the characters, and thus the protagonists, are quite fluid in this novel, and the character in question is actually an 'interpreter' not a translator, it certainly has a lot of bearing on the subject. I loved it. Quite thought provoking.
