City Of Djinns

- Listener in the conversation.
- Ruskin Bond Wali Feel. Some chapters boring. Frasers and Skinners.
City account perspective. Dragging a bit in some chapters. I really like his efforts to track down people and the effort to try and meet people in different countries.

Sattu- Didn't like. Chapter finished to early. Left High and Dry.
Aditya-Don't know if it is written for an Indian audience or British.

Title - A year in Delhi. He hasn't presented any themes. No Structure. According to seasons City of djinns only when he talks only of djinns.

Is it true for the genre? The danger of delving deep into a particular incident. Or consciously you are travelling. Whether it
is the nature/limitation of genre. Maximum city even thought it tells you about the city. Suketu Mehta exoticizes.

Sam Miller. Book much better.

Citadel and gandi galliyan. Patronizing.

Apolitical reality.
Tried hard to be apolitical. History behind a building and behind the people of the building. Simply exploring Delhi from a
Historian's point of view

Political angle to the story.

He tries to compare Hinduism and Islam. Suddenly a monument would come up. Jama Masjid Ramdan day. Comparisons were a conscious thought.
Urdu was romanticized because it was used in courts.

Its not clear whether this is for British audience or Indian.

Britishers and Mughals degraded as time progressed. Earlier attempts at mixing with the culture.
Lost in writing. It should be more structured.

Agenda in Mind. is it even a travelogue?
Cater to everyday experiences. He didn't define the audience. What was he thinking?

Collection of anecdotes.
Very elite.

Is he not a part of that privilege. Why is he talking of his privilege?

Dehli - Delhi.
