What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this between 2002 and 2007 but it was probably written in the 1980s or 90s. Two sisters are on a road trip and their father likes to take detours for weird attractions so they go to a museum of shoes which also has strange back rooms including one where the ceiling becomes the floor. I don't remember anything else about the plot; they may have gotten lost or trapped and had to find a way out. It was pretty short and seemed American. It had a few illustrations, I believe, including the girls crawling on the ceiling-floor.
