Word Horde published Livia Llewellyn's Furnace. So they must have something going for them.

If you are correct about books going the way of the perforated postage stamp, and I don't think you are, we will lose something irreplaceable. Namely, a measure of reading comprehension. Personally, even when I get material from an electronic source, I often go to the expense of printing it before I read it.

Why, you may ask? Because numerous studies are coming out showing that humans when reading retain content from print better than when reading it from screens. I am no exception. Retaining and engaging with my reading material is important to me. The revelations I gain from my reading often become a part of me.

I'm not sure how you guys got on this ebook vs paper tangent. Word Horde publishes paper books too. I'm the happy owner of Furnace, on paper.

And I am a happy owner of their paper The Fisherman, which sits on my shelf waiting to be read some day. Word Horde has good production values. The Fisherman is a beautiful looking book.

My second Word Horde read would be the book I mention in message one above. The way you guys talked up her short story in the other thread makes me curious how good Furnace must be.
